PYAAS FOUNDATION handed over the newly rejuvinated Bailwad lake

Pragativahini News, Belagavi – PYAAS FOUNDATION handed over the newly rejuvenated Bailwad lake in Bailhongal.
The lake was handed over to the gram panchayat at the hands of Shri Siddeshwar Swamiji of Vijayapura. Mahantesh Koujalgi MLA of Bailhongal , Suresh Angadi Minister of State for Railways , Karnataka Rajyotsav awardee Shivaji Kagnikar and hundreds of villagers from Bailwad and surrounding villages were present to witness the handover.
The lake belongs to the hot and arid drought effected zone of Bailhongal. The village was once famous for the the ancient temple dedicated to Siddabasaveshwara. PYAAS FOUNDATION worked in the lake for two months this summer and finished the lake before monsoon.
When the work started there was a mountain of hard rock and rubble .This was one of the numerous attempts at the lake , and everyone gave up when they hit the hard rock surface. It was an Herculean effort by PYAAS to finish the lake despite hurdles.
The lake is over eleven acres and is now full up to the brim and overflowing for the first time in fifteen years. After a span of ten years the bore well surrounding the lake are also revived and full of water.
The lake was funded by Mohan Ragahwan of Bhoomi and Kishor Badani of Diamond Metal screens along with several other donors.The villagers expressed satisfaction in the completion of the lake and vowed to protect it in future. This is the ninth lake rejuvenated by PYAAS FOUNDATION. Dr Preeti Kore and Mr Abhimanyu Daga coordinated the lake on behalf of PYAAS FOUNDATION .
Speaking on the occasion Siddeshwar Swamiji emphasized the importance of water and stressed that there has to be increased efforts to conserve and purify sources of water. Shivajianna Kagnekar requested the villagers to preserve and worship the lake so that it would bring them maximum gains.
Suresh Angadi lauded the efforts taken by PYAAS FOUNDATION. Dr Preeti and Abhimanyu spoke on the occasion and discussed the project and the challenges faced. Dr Madhav Prabhu president of PYAAS FOUNDATION , Avadhoot Samant the joint secretary , Satish Lad , Suryakant , Tejas Kolekar , Vinay Bagi , Aditya Bhinge and other members of PYAAS were present in the occasion.
