Pragativahini News, Belagavi – On the eve of “World Cancer Day”, the NSS Cell of KAHER in collaboration with Government of Karnataka, Youth Empowerment and Sports and NSS Cell Yenepoya University NSS Cell had organized one-day workshop on ‘Enhancing knowledge and skills of NSS Programme Officers to educate community on prevention and community on prevention and control of common cancers’.
Dr. Vivek A. Saoji, Vice Chancellor, KAHER was the Chief Guest of the function. Addressing the gathering he stressed the importance of Cancer detection in the community and told all participants to actively involve in early detection and awareness programme.
Dr. M.V. Jali, MD CEO, KLE’s Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital and MRC, Belagavi was the guest of honour and he said that now a day the cancer is becoming prevalent in India like other communicable and non-communicable diseases.
Dr. V.A. Kothiwale, Registrar, KAHER, welcomed and introduced Chief Guest. Dr. Ashwini Shetty briefed about the cancer awareness out-reach programme. Dr. Ashwini Narasannavar proposed vote of thanks. Mr. Pranav Adhyapak sang innovation song and Dr. Snehal Dharmayat Associate Professor did anchor the programme.
Dr Ashwini Shetty, Dr Rohan Thomas and Anu Thomas from Yeneyopa University Mangalore were the resource persons. The was workshop was attended by 20 faculty members and NSS Programme officers and 50 NSS Volunteers of all constituent units of KAHER, Belagavi.
The trained faculty and student volunteers will create cancer awareness in the campus and adopted villages.
