           VTU Belagavi Virtual Labs of NIT Karnataka, Surathkal to Collaborate for Technology Enabled Learning 

Pragativahini News, Belagavi –  Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Belagavi is collaborating with National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK), Surathkal in implementing Technology Enabled Learning through Virtual Labs in all the affiliated institutions of the University.

In this regard VTU in association with NITK Surathkal had organized online meeting of all the principals of VTU affiliated Engineering Colleges on 25th Sept 2020. Hon’ble VC of VTU Prof. Karisiddappa and Participating Institute Coordinator & Head of the Centre for System Design at NITK Surathkal Prof. K. V. Gangadharan addressed the meeting.

Virtual Labs is an initiative under National Mission on Education through ICT funded by the Ministry of Education, Govt of India for aiding Technology Enabled Learning in the field of experiential education in engineering and science subjects. It is a free to access online repository for students & teachers and provides more than a thousand experiments across different streams for students across the country. Virtual Labs has been developed and maintained by eleven participating institutions led by IIT Delhi and NIT Karnataka, Surathkal in Mangaluru is one of the key members of this consortium.

VTU will be using Virtual Labs for remote experiential learning of courses in engineering and applied sciences by involving all affiliated colleges of the university as Nodal Centers of Virtual Labs. The participating faculties shall be supported by NITK Surathkal by way of online training programmes. Subsequently, the University shall collaborate with the Virtual Labs team at the Centre for System Design at NITK Surathkal in creating content for advanced subject areas relevant to the current academic and professional environment. 

Prof. K. V. Gangadharan, Participating Institute Coordinator and Head of the Centre for System Design at NITK Surathkal will be leading the implementation of this partnership from the Participating Institute. The collaboration and future prospects were announced by VTU Vice Chancellor Prof. Karisiddappa to all the Principals of affiliated Engineering colleges in an online meeting held on Friday.

Principals and faculty from more than 190 VTU affiliated colleges were participated.
