Pragativahini News, Belagavi – Community distribution of anything is community distribution of the virus and it goes totally against the idea of social distancing that is the need of the hour and what our Prime minister has urged with folded hands for. Right now we all need to be be home and do nothing at all, this is the opinion and the request of former CREDAI president Qais Noorani to the Public.
Everybody can help by counselling people on the phone, by doing a neighborhood watch and many ways, he said.
His request to public is as follows:
Every Organization , group and foundation that is helping the needy by distributing food kits etc has their heart in the right places, their intentions are pure and they are doing this at great personal risk. Their efforts are appreciated in tough times.
They are the warriors who come out in the time of crisis when the country and its countrymen really need them.
Having said that , this is not the type of crisis where we need to come out on the roads with sleeves rolled up to help the needy.
This is a unique/ novel crisis. This is a crisis where the more we try to help, the worse we are making the situation.
Let’s take an example of X Organization having 10 members distributing 500 kits a day.
Even if one member of that group is infected or the material was touched by someone infected anywhere along the supply chain, this has now spread to 500 homes and assuming 500 homes have 4 people each , the virus has spread to 2000 people.
Now multiply that number with by 20, because Belagavi has by my assumption at least 20 such organisations that are doing this right now.
And see the implications of community spread. We are luck so far that Belagavi doesn’t have a single case yet. But by distributing food packets we are worsening the situation.
This was needed at the time of floods and we are all proud of all those who rose to the occasion then or in any other crisis.
But this is not that type of crisis. This crisis needs your help , by you showing restraint and staying home.
You can help by counselling people on the phone. You can help by doing a neighborhood watch. You can help in so many ways.
Community distribution of anything is community distribution of the virus and it goes totally against the idea of social distancing that is the need of the hour and what our Prime minister has urged with folded hands for.
I understand there will be an argument that , who will help the poor and the needy.
I know it’s hard seeing them suffer.
But imagine how hard their life will be if they catch the virus and they don’t have hospital beds or are left to die.
Just today there was a news they a dead Telangana patient who was infected couldn’t even get a burial in the presence of the family. The health workers buried him
Imagine this scenario but 1000 folds. Please restrain your self. Today everyone seems to have a pass.
The city is buzzing today albeit at 40% capacity. But still.
We need to bare with all the inconvenience for a few weeks.
The government is doing their best , the police are working over time.
It’s time to let the government do their job and the police do their job.
They have their own pressures and know that they will do their jobs.
The government has promised to hire everyone food, it may be a bit late but they will do it.
I request every one to cooperate in this endeavor.
Save your efforts and funds for recuperation and rehabilitation of the needy after the crisis is over.
Right now we all need to be be home and do nothing at all.
What ever one can do from their house over the phone , please just do that much.
I apologise if I have stepped on anyone’s toes. Don’t mean to. But as a citizen and a concerned family man , I thought it was my responsibility to write this message.
