ಪ್ರಗತಿವಾಹಿನಿ ಸುದ್ದಿ: ಸೆಂಟ್ರಾಕೇರ್ ಸೂಪರ್ ಸ್ಪೆಷಾಲಿಟಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ ಬೆಳಗಾವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ 23 ಜನವರಿ 2026 ರಂದು ಪ್ರಥಮ ABO-Incompatible (ಹೊಂದಾಣಿಕೆಯಿಲ್ಲದ ರಕ್ತ ಗುಂಪುಗಳ) ಕಿಡ್ನಿ ಕಸಿ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಗಿ ಕೇವಲ ಎರಡು ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲೇ ಈ ಸಾಧನೆ ಸಾಧಿಸಿರುವುದು ಮಹತ್ತರ ಮೈಲಿಗಲ್ಲು ಎಂದು ಡಾ. ನೀತಾ ದೇಶಪಾಂಡೆ ಪತ್ರಿಕಾ ಗೋಷ್ಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ನೀಡಿದರು.

ಪತ್ರಿಕಾಗೋಷ್ಠಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ನಿರ್ದೇಶಕಿ ಡಾ. ನೀತಾ ದೇಶಪಾಂಡೆ, ಕಿಡ್ನಿ ಕಸಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ʼಯೂರೋಗ್ರಾಫ್ಟ್ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯʼ ಸಹಯೋಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಆರಂಭಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಇದನ್ನು ಡಾ. ಅವಿನಾಶ ಓದುಗೌಡರ ಮತ್ತು ಡಾ. ಭುವನೇಶ್ ಆರಾಧ್ಯ ಸಹಯೋಗದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಪೃಥಮ ಕಿಡ್ನಿ ಕಸಿ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ತಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆ ಡಾ. ಕೆ.ಎಚ್. ಬೆಳಗಾವಕರ ಅವರ ಸ್ಮರಣಾರ್ಥ ಫೌಂಡೇಶನ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, CSR ನಿಧಿ ಹಾಗೂ ದಾನಿಗಳ ಸಹಕಾರದೊಂದಿಗೆ, ಆಥಿ೯ಕವಾಗಿ ಹಿಂದುಳಿದ ರೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಕಿಡ್ನಿ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ಕಡಿಮೆ ವೆಚ್ಚದಲ್ಲಿ ಲಭ್ಯವಾಗುವಂತೆ ನಿಧಿ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಿಸಿ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ನೀಡುವ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಹಮ್ಮಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದರು.

ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು 2 ಲಕ್ಷ ಜನ ಡಯಾಲಿಸಿಸ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದರೂ, ವರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ಕೇವಲ 10,000 ಕಿಡ್ನಿ ಕಸಿಯಾಗುತ್ತಿರುವದು ವಿಪರ್ಯಾಸ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಕಿಡ್ನಿ ಕಸಿ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಕ ಡಾ. ಅವಿನಾಶ ಓದುಗೌಡರ ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು. ಈ ಮೊದಲು, ಕಿಡ್ನಿ ಕಸಿಗೆ ದಾನಿ ಮತ್ತು ರೋಗಿಯ ರಕ್ತಗುಂಪು ಒಂದೇ ಆಗಿದ್ದರೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಕಿಡ್ನಿ ಕಸಿ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ, ಇಂದಿನ ಆಧುನಿಕ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದ ರಕ್ತಗುಂಪು ಹೊಂದಾಣಿಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೂ ಕಿಡ್ನಿ ಕಸಿಯನ್ನು ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತವಾಗಿ ನೆರವೇರಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು. ಜೊತೆಗೆ ನಾಗರಿಕರು ಅಂಗಾಂಗದಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಂದೆ ಬರಬೇಕೆಂದು ಮನವಿ ಮಾಡಿದರು.

ರೋಗಿಯ ವಿವರ: ಹುಕ್ಕೇರಿ ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನ 47 ವರ್ಷದ ಪುರುಷ (B+ve ರಕ್ತ ಗುಂಪು) ಕಳೆದ 12 ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ಕಿಡ್ನಿ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಯಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಕಳೆದ ನಾಲ್ಕು ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ವಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಎರಡು ಬಾರಿ ಡಯಾಲಿಸಿಸ್‌ಗೆ ಒಳಗಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರ ಪತ್ನಿ (A+ve ರಕ್ತ ಗುಂಪು) ಕಿಡ್ನಿ ದಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿದ್ಧರಾಗಿದ್ದರೂ, ರಕ್ತಗುಂಪು ಹೊಂದಾಣಿಕೆ ಇಲ್ಲದ ಕಾರಣ ಕಿಡ್ನಿ ಕಸಿ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಸೆಂಟ್ರಾಕೇರ್ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಲಭ್ಯವಿರುವ ಪರಿಣತಿ ವೈದ್ಯರು, ಅತ್ಯಾಧುನಿಕ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ABO-Incompatible ಕಿಡ್ನಿ ಕಸಿ ಸೇವೆಯಿಂದ ಈ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯನ್ನು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ನಡೆಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಯಿತು ಎಂದು ಡಾ. ಅವಿನಾಶ ಹೇಳಿದರು.

CentraCare Hospital Performs First ABO-Incompatible Kidney Transplant

CentraCare Super-Speciality Hospital, Tilakwadi, Belagavi has successfully performed the first-ever ABO-Incompatible Kidney Transplant on 23rd January 2026, marking a major milestone in advanced kidney care within just two years of the hospital’s establishment.

Addressing the media, Dr. Neeta Deshpande, Medical Director, said the transplant program was started in association with ‘Urograft’ co-founded by Dr. Avinash Odugoudar and Dr. Bhuvanesh Aradhya. She also announced that, in memory of her father Dr. K.H. Belgaumkar, CSR funds from the foundation along with support from philanthropists will be pooled to help make kidney care more affordable for needy patients.
Dr. Avinash Odugoudar, Lead Transplant Surgeon, highlighted that nearly 2 lakh patients are on dialysis in India, while only about 10,000 kidney transplants are performed each year, leaving a large gap between need and availability. He explained that earlier kidney transplants required matching blood groups, but with modern medical advances, transplants are now safely performed even when blood groups do not match. He also appealed to citizens to pledge their organs and help save lives.
Case Details:

      The patient who underwent Kidney Transplant is a 47-year male patient (B+ve Blood group) from Hukkeri Taluka suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) for 12 years and on dialysis for the last four years. His wife (A+ve Blood Group) wished to donate her kidney, but blood group mismatch had earlier made transplant difficult. With the availability of expertise, ABO-incompatible transplant services & latest infrastructure at CentraCare Hospital, the transplant was successfully performed said Dr. Avinash.

Dr. Anjaney Yadur, Transplant Nephrologist, explained that before the transplant, special treatment was done to reduce antibodies using advanced techniques like plasmapheresis. The surgery was carried out under close supervision of the transplant and critical care team. The transplanted kidney started functioning immediately with adequate urine output, which is a positive sign of success. He added that lifelong follow-up and medication are essential for good quality of life.
The transplant surgery which lasted for over four hours was performed by Dr. Avinash Odugoudar, Dr. Bhuvanesh Aradhya, Dr. Nazeer Mulla and Dr. Sunil S, under the mentorship of Dr. Ajay Sharma. Anesthesia support was provided by Dr. Srivatsa and Dr. Seemin. Post-transplant care was managed by Dr. Anjaney Yadur, Intensivist Dr. Narendra Patil, Nephrologist Dr. Deepak, and a dedicated nursing team.
Both the donor and recipient are stable, doing well, and are being discharged. They expressed heartfelt gratitude to the CentraCare Hospital team for the care and support.
