Conference & Exhibition on “Fatigue, Durability and Fracture Mechanics

Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, in association with Institute of Structural Integrity and Failure Studies, Bengaluru and DHIO Center for Excellence, Bengaluru organized Three day 3rd International Conference & Exhibition on “Fatigue, Durability and Fracture Mechanics”  at “Jnana Sangama”, Belagavi.

The inaugural function of the Conference was held on 29th August 2019.

This 3rd International Conference and Exhibition brings industrial experts and academicians on a single platform to facilitate the exchange of ideas and advancements in the fatigue, durability and fracture mechanics and its applications.

Dr. Bhagavatula Dattaguru, Padmashri awardee and Former Professor, Dept. of Aerospace Engineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru was the Chief Guest. Dr. Karisiddappa, Vice Chancellor of VTU presided over the function. Dr. S. Seetharamu, Former Director, Central Power Research Institute and Technical Director, Institute of Structural Integrity and Failure Studies and Dr. A. S. Deshpande, Registrar of VTU were the Guests of Honour.

After inaugurating the Conference Dr. Bhagavatula Dattaguru highlighted the importance of Fatigue or Life assessment of structures in aerospace, mechanical, civil and other domains, he also mentioned material design will be the next generation research, which enables the designer to estimate the life well in advance in the design cycle.

Dr. S. Seetharamu said that “recently technological developments in industries are undergoing phenomenal changes and interdisciplinary studies will make engineering education more fruitful”. He advised that engineering colleges have to establish multidisciplinary incubation center.

In his presidential address Dr. Karisiddappa said that “there is need to invent materials with economically proportional. There are several complexities in the engineering fields. Hence, our young engineers have to engage themselves in research activities to solve the problems in engineering fields such as basic mechanics, materials manufacturing, structural engineering, aerospace engineering etc”

Dr. A. S. Deshpande, Registrar of VTU briefed about the Conference. Dr. T. Jagadish, Technical Director, Institute of Structural Integrity and Failure Studies welcomed and Dr. R. R. Malagi, Professor, VTU Dept. of PG Studies, Belagavi proposed vote of thanks. Over 500 delegates from all the country and from countries like USA, Spain etc. are participated in the conference.
