*Government issues order for 2% reservation for sportspersons in Govt jobs*

Pragativahini News: Bengaluru : Thanks to four year continuous efforts of the Karnataka Olympic Association (KOA), the State Government on Monday issued an order providing 2% reservation for sportspersons in government jobs and 3% reservation in the Forest and Police departments.

The State Cabinet had earlier approved the Karnataka Civil Services (General Recruitment) (Amendment) Rules, 2026, providing 2 per cent reservation for sportspersons who have achieved excellence in sports in recruitment to State civil services. Sportspersons across the State have welcomed the order and thanked the KOA for its efforts.

FIBA President, KOA President and MLC Dr. K. Govindaraj welcomed the government order. He thanked Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, Deputy Chief Minister and Sports Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and the officials for their role in the decision.

“ The efforts of the last four years have finally borne fruit. It was my dream to get reservation in government jobs for sportspersons of Karnataka. The government has now responded to our demand by issuing an order providing 2 per cent reservation for sportspersons.
