Pragativahini News, Belagavi – Swashakti Empowerment Cell for Women celebrated International Women’s Day on 9th March at KLE Centenary Convection Center.
About 500 women staff and faculty of the constituent units of KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research and the educational institutions of KLE Society witnessed this event.
Asha Kore, President of the event addressed the gathering. A documentary film related to Gender Equality “Please Mind The Gap” was screened during this event, followed by discussion on this film by Harish Sadani, Chief Functionary and Co-founder of “Men Against Violence and Abuse – MAVA”, an NGO working for the past 26 years to stop and prevent gender based violence against women. He has 27 years of intensive work experience in developmental sector on issues related to gender justice.
The Swashakti Empowerment Cell also felicitated two women KSRTC drivers Sushma Kamble and Sridevi Kesarpannavar from Belagavi and Hubballi for having chosen a career that has been dominated by men all these years.
The event was also attended by Vice-Presidents, Dr. Alka Kale, Dr. Sujata Jali and Dr. N. S. Mahantashetti, Chief Co-ordinator, Dr. Preeti Kore Dodwad, Secretary, Dr. Neha Dhaded, Joint Secretaries, Dr. Harpreet Kaur and Mrs. Jalaja Udoshi, Program Cordinators Dr Daksha Dixit and Dr Hema Shete and all the executive committee members of Swashakthi Empowerment Cell.
