The Income Tax authorities raided the house of Prakash Bhat the priest of Ishwara temple in Haradanahalli on Friday and verified the documents. Haradanahalli is native place of Devegowda and the Ishwara id the family God of Devegouda’s family it is said. The search was conducted in the house and the temple related to Prakash Bhat by two IT officials. The tax authorities could not find anything in the house of the priest it is said.
Reacting to the raid, H D Revanna, son of Devegouda sarcastically said that IT authorities might have sized the cashew nuts and dry grapes from the house of the priest. They are doing their duty and let them carry on their duty. It doesn’t make any difference whether the raid was conducted on Lord Ishwara or on the priest of Ishwara, Revanna said.
Neelamma wife of priest Prakash Bhat said that two IT officials had come to their house and checked the cupboards, upstairs and even kitchen room. They got nothing. Later they carried out the search inside the temple. When they tried to enter the sanctum sanctorum of the temple we prevented them from doing so she said.
