Udyamabag police arrested a person Manjunath Chambanna Alakatti, who had allegedly duped the car owners after taking the cars on rent from them. Police have seized 9 cars worth Rs. 49.50 Lakhs from the arrested person.
A had been registered in the Udyamabag police station by one Manjunath Chambanna Alakatti, a resident of Rani Chennamma Nagar. Manjunath had alleged that in his complaint that Shivakumar Malleshappa Malakannanavar (22) a resident of Ramateertha, Belagavi had duped him by saying he was the owner of a firm called Balaji Enterprises and was supplying the cars to different companies on the rent basis. Shivakumar had taken away a Ford car from him and had kept that car with someone else with the purpose to sell it.
Police arrested Shivakumar and during the investigation it was found that he and his accomplice Sanjay Kulkarni had sold 7 cards in Belagavi and Dharwad and 2 cars in Bengaluru by availing the cars on rent and had duped its owners of Rs. 49.50 lakh rupees. They had disappeared not even paying the rent to the owners of the cars.
Sanjay Kulkarni has gone underground. Police Commissioner and the DCPs have lauded the work of Udyamabag police.
