Rejuvenation of a lake in Bailwad, a village near Sampgaon in Bailhongal Taluka began on Thursday.
The rejuvenation project has been taken up by PYASS Foundation. The lake, spread over 8 acres, goes dry by the end of January every year, as it is very shallow. Under this project the lake will be dug upto five feet, so that storage capacity is increased, which in turn, will provide water to the surrounding population of around 7 thousand and also increase the groundwater level in the vicinity.
On Thursday, digging up of the lake bed began with performing the pooja. Dr. Madhav Prabhu, President PYASS Foundation, Abhimanyu Daga, Vice President, Dr. Preeti Dodwad-Kore, Treasurer, Directors Satish Lad, Deepak Oulkar, Gopal Gawade, Mahesh Bagi, Bailwad GP President Drakshyani Gireppannavar, ZP member Anil Makalmardi, GP Members V.S. Gireppannavar, C. S. Gireppannavar, Ravi Gada, Taluka Panchayat EO Mulla, PKPS member V.R. Gireppannavar along with Bhavihal School HM Ramangouda were present.
The project is planned to be completed before Month of May.
