Pragatiivahini News, Belagavi : Though crossed a decade experience in running an independent university, the Rani Channamma University situated at Bhutaramanahatti, about 15 km from Belagavi town, has not yet seemed turned to maturity. It is back in social news for its mistake, this time the Belagavi Consumer Redressal Forum has took it to task and imposed fine of Rs 1 lakh for not yet issuing marks card to a student passed B Com in 2015.
Geeta Irrappa Ejaradar was a Commerce student of Basaveshwar Degree college at Bagalkote. She passed her B Com in 2015, however, she was not yet given her marks card for which neither she continued her higher education nor got job.
Despite many applications and personal requests, neither the college nor the university issued her the marks card which forced her to file a suit with Consumer Redressal Forum on April 24, 2018.
After going through the hearing proceeding, the forum found the university Guilty and slapped it the fine, adding Rs 1, 000 for mental agony to the complainant due to matter.
The forum instructed the Basaveshwar college to ensure paying the imposed fine amount with fine in 30 days, else pay the entire sum with 9pc interest from the date of Geeta filed the complaint.
Forum Chairman BV Gudli and member Sunita attended the case.
