Udupi district stands atop the list of liquor related death list with 6, while Mangaluru, adjoining to Udupi claimed 2 lives. Shivamogga, Chickaballapur, Kolar, Hubbali and Tumakur with one each deaths.
A person M Shankar from Malakuppi village in Mulubagilu taluk in Kolar district allegedly attempted to end his life by get slitting his neck with a knief, as he could not got liquor since 7 days.
Psychiatrics said that those addicted to liquor would behave abnormally and land into depression if they could not get the liquor and would take any kind extreme step including ending life.
To avoid such disaster, the Kerala government, as per the request of the people, planning to start supply of liquor through online during the lockdown period.
