‘With less than average rainfall during this monsoon there is a severe drought staring at the district this year. As there is the possibility of water and fodder scarcity, water and power problem may haunt the district this year. To discuss the burning issues of the farmers the district administration should immediately call the meeting of the farmer organisations, said Siddagouda Modagi, President of Krishika Samaj (United).
To face the draught effectively drinking water projects like Krishna, Mahadayi, Kalasa – Banduri should be discussed. The people of the district should be convinced about the steps taken by the district administration to face the draught situation. For this the meeting of the officials and the farmers is must he said.
Some state level issues should also be discussed during the meeting. The loan waiver which was neglected by the Chief Minister and the suddenness of the implementation of the land acquisition, rehabilitation and transparency right act are anti-farmer. A discussion is needed about this, he said.
To discuss all these issues in detail a meeting should be arranged immediately Siddagouda urged.
