ಶಿರಸಿ: ಖಚಿತ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಆಧರಿಸಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆ ನಡೆಸಿದ ಶಿರಸಿ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಸಂಚಾರಿ ದಳ (FMS), ವನ್ಯಜೀವಿ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನಗಳ ಅಕ್ರಮ ಸಾಗಾಟ ಜಾಲವನ್ನು ಭೇದಿಸಿ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಆರೋಪಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬಂಧಿಸಿದೆ.
ಉತ್ತರ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಯಲ್ಲಾಪುರ ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನ ಉಪ್ಪಳೇಶ್ವರ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಕ್ರಮವಾಗಿ ವನ್ಯಜೀವಿ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನಗಳನ್ನು ಸಾಗಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ ಎಂಬ ಖಚಿತ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಇಲಾಖೆಗೆ ಲಭಿಸಿತ್ತು. ಇದರ ಆಧಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಶಿರಸಿ FMS ತಂಡ ದಾಳಿ ನಡೆಸಿ ಆರೋಪಿಗಳನ್ನು ಬಂಧಿಸಿ, ಭಾರೀ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದ ವನ್ಯಜೀವಿ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನಗಳನ್ನು ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಪಡೆದಿದೆ.
ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ 15.748 ಕೆ.ಜಿ. ಪ್ಯಾಂಗೋಲಿನ್ ಚಿಪ್ಪುಗಳು, ಎರಡು ಭಾರತೀಯ ಕಾಡೆಮ್ಮೆ (ಗೌರ್) ಕೊಂಬುಗಳು, ಎಂಟು ಹುಲಿ ಉಗುರುಗಳು, 12 ಚಿರತೆ ಉಗುರುಗಳು, ಎರಡು ಹುಲಿ ಹಲ್ಲುಗಳು, ಮೂರು ಚಿರತೆ ಹಲ್ಲುಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಆರು ಕಾಡುಹಂದಿ ಹಲ್ಲುಗಳು ಪತ್ತೆಯಾಗಿವೆ.
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ, ಅಕ್ರಮ ಸಾಗಾಟಕ್ಕೆ ಬಳಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಒಂದು ಬೈಕ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಒಂದು ಸ್ಕೂಟರ್ನ್ನು ಕೂಡ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಬಂಧಿತ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಆರೋಪಿಗಳ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ವನ್ಯಜೀವಿ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣಾ ಕಾಯ್ದೆ, 1972ರ ಸಂಬಂಧಿತ ಕಲಂಗಳ ಅಡಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಿಸಿ ತನಿಖೆ ಮುಂದುವರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ವನ್ಯಜೀವಿ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನಗಳ ಅಕ್ರಮ ಸಂಗ್ರಹಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಗಾಟದ ಹಿಂದೆ ಇರುವ ಜಾಲದ ಕುರಿತು ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಕಲೆಹಾಕುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಈ ಕಳ್ಳಸಾಗಣೆ ಜಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗಿಯಾಗಿರುವ ಹಾಗೂ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ತಲೆಮರೆಸಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವ ಇತರ ಆರೋಪಿಗಳ ಪತ್ತೆಗಾಗಿ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ತೀವ್ರ ಶೋಧ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆ ನಡೆಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
APCCF ಮನೋಜ್ ತ್ರಿಪಾಠಿ, IFS, ಅಪರಾಧ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣ ಘಟಕ (ವಿಜಿಲೆನ್ಸ್) ಹಾಗೂ DCF ಸಂದೀಪ್ ಸೂರ್ಯವಂಶಿ, IFS ಅವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ACF ರಾಘವೇಂದ್ರ ನಾಯಕ್, RFO ಶಿಲ್ಪಾ ನಾಯಕ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಶಿರಸಿ FMS ತಂಡದ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು.
ವನ್ಯಜೀವಿಗಳ ಅಂಗಾಂಗಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಉತ್ಪನ್ನಗಳ ಅಕ್ರಮ ವ್ಯಾಪಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಕಡಿವಾಣ ಹಾಕುವ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಇಲಾಖೆ ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ನಿಗಾ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಇಂತಹ ಅಕ್ರಮ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿರುವವರ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಕಠಿಣ ಕಾನೂನು ಕ್ರಮ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗುವುದು ಎಂದು ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
Illegal Transportation of Wildlife Products: Two Arrested
15.748 kg of pangolin scales, gaur horns, tiger and leopard claws and teeth seized
Sirsi: Acting on credible information, the Sirsi Forest Mobile Squad (FMS) conducted a successful operation and arrested two persons allegedly involved in the illegal transportation of wildlife products at Uppaleshwar village in Yellapur taluk of Uttara Kannada district.
During the operation, forest officials seized 15.748 kg of pangolin scales, two Indian gaur horns, eight tiger claws, 12 leopard claws, two tiger teeth, three leopard teeth and six wild boar teeth from the accused.
The officials also seized one motorcycle and one scooter allegedly used for transporting the wildlife products.
A case has been registered against the two accused under the relevant provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and further investigation is underway.
Forest officials are intensifying the search for other persons allegedly involved in the wildlife trafficking network who are currently absconding. The investigation is also focused on identifying the source of the wildlife products and the intended destination of the illegal consignment.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of APCCF Manoj Tripathi, IFS, Crime Control Unit (Vigilance), and DCF Sandeep Suryavanshi, IFS. ACF Raghavendra Naik, RFO Shilpa Naik and the Sirsi FMS team participated in the operation.
The Forest Department has intensified surveillance against the illegal trade and transportation of wildlife products and has warned that strict legal action will be taken against those involved in such offences.
