ಬೆಳಗಾವಿ: ಮಹಿಳೆಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಕಂಡುಬರುವ ಗಂಭೀರ ಕಾಯಿಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲೊಂದಾದ ಗರ್ಭಕಂಠದ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ತಡೆಗಟ್ಟುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಲಿಂಗಾಯತ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ (ಕೆಎಲ್ಇ) ಸೊಸೈಟಿ ಕೈಗೊಂಡಿರುವ KLE HPV Vaccination Initiative ಮೊದಲ ಹಂತವನ್ನು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಳಿಸಿದೆ.
ಹದಿಹರೆಯದ ಬಾಲಕಿಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಅರ್ಹ ಫಲಾನುಭವಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಹ್ಯೂಮನ್ ಪ್ಯಾಪಿಲೋಮವೈರಸ್ (HPV) ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಲಸಿಕೆ ನೀಡುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಭವಿಷ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಗರ್ಭಕಂಠದ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಪ್ರಮಾಣವನ್ನು ಕಡಿಮೆ ಮಾಡುವ ಗುರಿಯನ್ನು ಈ ಮಹತ್ವಾಕಾಂಕ್ಷೆಯ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ಹೊಂದಿದೆ.
ಕೆಎಲ್ಇ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿ ಆಫ್ ಹೈಯರ್ ಎಜುಕೇಶನ್ ಅಂಡ್ ರಿಸರ್ಚ್ನ ಕುಲಪತಿ ಡಾ. ಪ್ರಭಾಕರ ಬಿ. ಕೋರೆ ಅವರ ದೂರದೃಷ್ಟಿಯ ನಾಯಕತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಕೆಎಲ್ಇ ಸೊಸೈಟಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಎಲ್ಇ ಆಂಗ್ಲ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಶಾಲೆಗಳ ಸಂಯೋಜಕಿ ಡಾ. ಪ್ರೀತಿ ಕೆ. ದೊಡ್ಡವಾಡ ಅವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಯೋಜನೆ ಅನುಷ್ಠಾನಗೊಂಡಿದೆ.
ಈ ಅಭಿಯಾನವನ್ನು ಜೆ.ಎನ್. ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಕಾಲೇಜಿನ ಸ್ತ್ರೀರೋಗ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾ ವಿಭಾಗದ ತಜ್ಞೆ ಡಾ. ಸ್ವಾತಿ ಎಸ್. ಗೌಡರ್ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಜಾರಿಗೆ ತರಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಸಂಯೋಜಕರಾದ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕ ಮತ್ತು ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥ ಡಾ. ಜ್ಞಾನೇಶ್ ಡಿ. ಕಾಂಬಳೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಕೆಎಲ್ಇ ಜೆಜಿಎಂಎಂ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಕಾಲೇಜು, ಹುಬ್ಬಳ್ಳಿಯ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕ ಡಾ. ಶ್ರೀಹರ್ಷ ಬಡಿಗೇರ್ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಸಹಕಾರ ನೀಡಿದರು.
9 ಶಾಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಅಭಿಯಾನ
ಬೆಳಗಾವಿ, ಹುಬ್ಬಳ್ಳಿ, ಧಾರವಾಡ, ನಿಪ್ಪಾಣಿ, ಚಿಕ್ಕೋಡಿ ಮತ್ತು ಅಂಕಲಿ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ಒಟ್ಟು 9 ಕೆಎಲ್ಇ ಶಾಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ HPV ಹಾಗೂ ಗರ್ಭಕಂಠದ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಕುರಿತು ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಅಭಿಯಾನಕ್ಕೆ ಶ್ರೀಮತಿ ದೀಪ್ತಿ ಕೋರೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಗುಲಾಬ್ ಸೇವಾ ಫೌಂಡೇಶನ್ ಬೆಂಬಲ ನೀಡಿವೆ.
589 ಫಲಾನುಭವಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಲಸಿಕೆ
ಈ ಉಪಕ್ರಮದಡಿ ಒಟ್ಟು 589 ಮಂದಿ ಫಲಾನುಭವಿಗಳು ನೋಂದಾಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು, ಇವರಲ್ಲಿ:
488 ಬಾಲಕಿಯರು
29 ಬಾಲಕರು
72 ವಯಸ್ಕ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರು
ಸೇರಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
9 ರಿಂದ 14 ವರ್ಷ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನ ಬಾಲಕಿಯರಿಗೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಆದ್ಯತೆ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, HPV ಸೋಂಕಿಗೆ ಒಳಗಾಗುವ ಮೊದಲು ಲಸಿಕೆ ನೀಡುವುದರಿಂದ ಗರಿಷ್ಠ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ದೊರೆಯುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂಬ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಶಿಫಾರಸಿನ ಆಧಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ರೂಪಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ 15 ರಿಂದ 26 ವರ್ಷ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನ ಯುವತಿಯರು ಹಾಗೂ ಯುವ ವಯಸ್ಕರಿಗೆ, ಅಗತ್ಯ ಸಲಹೆ ಮತ್ತು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದೊಂದಿಗೆ 27 ರಿಂದ 45 ವರ್ಷ ವಯಸ್ಸಿನ ಮಹಿಳೆಯರಿಗೂ ಲಸಿಕೆ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಗಾರ್ಡಸಿಲ್ ಕ್ವಾಡ್ರಿವೇಲೆಂಟ್ ಲಸಿಕೆ ಬಳಕೆ
ಈ ಯೋಜನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ Gardasil Quadrivalent HPV Vaccine ಬಳಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಇದು HPV ವೈರಸ್ನ 6, 11, 16 ಮತ್ತು 18ನೇ ವಿಧಗಳ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಒದಗಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಗರ್ಭಕಂಠದ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಮತ್ತು ಜನನಾಂಗದ ನರಹುಲಿಗಳ ವಿರುದ್ಧ ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ನೀಡುವ ಈ ಲಸಿಕೆಯ ಸುರಕ್ಷತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ಅಧ್ಯಯನಗಳ ಬಲವಾದ ಪುರಾವೆಗಳಿವೆ.
ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲೇ ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತ ಲಸಿಕಾ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆ
ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಲಸಿಕಾ ಶಿಬಿರಗಳನ್ನು ಕೆಎಲ್ಇಎಸ್ ಡಾ. ಪ್ರಭಾಕರ ಕೋರೆ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ ಮತ್ತು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಕೇಂದ್ರ, ಬೆಳಗಾವಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಕೆಎಲ್ಇ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ ಮತ್ತು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಕೇಂದ್ರ, ಹುಬ್ಬಳ್ಳಿ ಆವರಣದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಮೇಲ್ವಿಚಾರಣೆ, ಲಸಿಕೆ ನಂತರದ ವೀಕ್ಷಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ತುರ್ತು ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಗಳನ್ನು ಖಚಿತಪಡಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಈ ಯೋಜನೆಗೆ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗಳ ಆಡಳಿತ ಮಂಡಳಿ, ವೈದ್ಯರು, ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು, ಪೋಷಕರು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ವರ್ಗದ ಸಹಕಾರ ದೊರೆತಿದೆ.
WHO ಗುರಿಗೆ KLE ಕೊಡುಗೆ
ಗರ್ಭಕಂಠದ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಅನ್ನು ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ಮೂಲನೆ ಮಾಡುವ ವಿಶ್ವ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ (WHO) ಗುರಿಗೆ ಪೂರಕವಾಗಿ, ತಡೆಗಟ್ಟುವ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸೇವೆ, ಮಹಿಳಾ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಹದಿಹರೆಯದವರ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಗೆ ಕೆಎಲ್ಇ ಸೊಸೈಟಿ ಈ ಉಪಕ್ರಮದ ಮೂಲಕ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡಿದೆ.
ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು, ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ತಜ್ಞರು, ಪೋಷಕರು ಮತ್ತು ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳ ಸಹಯೋಗದೊಂದಿಗೆ ನಡೆದ ಈ ಅಭಿಯಾನ HPV ಲಸಿಕೆಯ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಕುರಿತು ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಜಾಗೃತಿ ಮೂಡಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಗರ್ಭಕಂಠದ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಆರಂಭವಾಗುವ ಮೊದಲೇ ಅದನ್ನು ತಡೆಗಟ್ಟಬಹುದೆಂಬ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ಪರಿಣಾಮಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿ ಸಾರಿದೆ.
“ಗರ್ಭಕಂಠದ ಕ್ಯಾನ್ಸರ್ ಮುಕ್ತ ಭವಿಷ್ಯ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣದತ್ತ ಇದು ಒಂದು ಮಹತ್ವದ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆ” ಎಂದು ಕೆಎಲ್ಇ ಸೊಸೈಟಿ ತಿಳಿಸಿದೆ.
KLE Society Pioneers Cervical Cancer Prevention Through HPV Vaccination Initiative for School Children
The Karnatak Lingayat Education (KLE) Society has successfully completed the first phase of KLE HPV Vaccination Initiative, a preventive healthcare programme aimed at reducing the future burden of cervical cancer through Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination among adolescents and eligible beneficiaries.
The initiative was undertaken under the visionary leadership of Dr. Prabhakar B. Kore, Chancellor, KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research, and led by Dr. Preeti K. Doddwad, Co-ordinator, KLE Society and KLE English Medium Schools.
The programme was implemented by Dr. Swati S. Goudar, Assistant Professor of Gynaecological Oncology, Department of Surgical Oncology, J.N. Medical College, KAHER, Belagavi, and Project Co-ordinator, KLE HPV Vaccination Initiative, with clinical support from Dr. Dnyanesh D. Kamble, Professor and Head, Department of Paediatrics, JNMC, Belagavi, and Dr. Shriharsha Badiger, Professor, Department of Paediatrics, KLE JGMM Medical College, Hubballi.
Awareness and sensitization programmes were conducted across 9 KLE Society schools in Belagavi city, Hubballi, Dharwad, Nippani, Chikkodi, and Ankali. The student sensitization and education programme was supported by Mrs. Deepti Kore and the Gulaab Seva Foundation, Bengaluru.
The initiative utilized the Gardasil Quadrivalent HPV vaccine, a scientifically validated vaccine that provides protection against HPV types 6, 11, 16, and 18. The vaccine was selected based on its long-standing established safety profile, robust evidence of clinical efficacy, and demonstrated ability to protect against the HPV types responsible for the majority of cervical cancers and genital warts. The initiative placed particular emphasis on vaccination of girls between 9 and 14 years of age, the age group in which HPV vaccination provides the greatest benefit when administered prior to HPV exposure. Vaccination was also offered to eligible adolescents and young adults aged 15–26 years, who represent the next most beneficial age group for HPV vaccination. In addition, eligible adult women aged 27–45 years were vaccinated following appropriate counselling and shared decision-making. Vaccination was administered according to age-appropriate dosing schedules, with beneficiaries completing the recommended vaccine doses over an implementation period extending from September 2025 to May 2026.
The programme enrolled a total of 589 beneficiaries, including 488 girls, 29 boys, and 72 adult women within eligible age groups for HPV vaccination, through a structured model integrating awareness generation, informed consent, and vaccine administration.
All vaccination sessions were conducted within the hospital premises of KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital & Medical Research Centre, Belagavi, and KLE Hospital & Medical Research Centre, Hubballi, ensuring medical supervision, post-vaccination observation, and immediate access to emergency care support. The initiative received significant administrative support from Col. Dr. M. Dayanand, Medical Director, KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital & MRC, Belagavi; Dr. Rajashekar Somanatti, Administrator – Clinical Services, KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital & MRC, Belagavi; Dr Shailesh Udapudi ,Professor and Head, Department of Emergency Medicine, JNMC, Col. The KLE HPV Vaccination Initiative reflects KLE Society’s commitment towards advancing evidence-based preventive healthcare, promoting adolescent health, women’s health, and the World Health Organization’s vision of eliminating cervical cancer as a public health problem. Through collaborative efforts involving educational institutions, healthcare professionals, administrators, teachers, parents, and students, the initiative has strengthened awareness regarding cervical cancer prevention and reinforced the importance of HPV vaccination as a key strategy for safeguarding future generations.
Together, we are building a future where cervical cancer can be prevented before it begins.
