ರಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಪೂರೈಸಲು ಇಂಧನ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಖಾಸಗಿಗಿಂತ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠವಾಗಿದೆ
ಪ್ರಗತಿವಾಹಿನಿ ಸುದ್ದಿ: ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಜನರಿಗೆ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಪೂರೈಸಲು ಇಂಧನ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಖಾಸಗೀಕರಣಗೊಳಿಸುವ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಯೇ ಇಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ಇಂಧನ ಸಚಿವ ಕೆ.ಜೆ.ಜಾರ್ಜ್ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಅರಮನೆ ಮೈದಾನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೋಮವಾರ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಪ್ರಸರಣ ನಿಗಮ ನೌಕರರ ಸಂಘ ಮತ್ತು ಅಸೋಸಿಯೇಷನ್ ಗಳ ಒಕ್ಕೂಟ ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿ ಡಿ.ಕೆ.ಶಿವಕುಮಾರ್ ಮತ್ತು ಇಂಧನ ಸಚಿವರಿಗೆ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿದ್ದ ಅಭಿನಂದನಾ ಸಮಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾಲ್ಗೊಂಡು ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.
ಟಾಟಾ ಪವರ್ ಕಂಪನಿಯು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಸರಬರಾಜು (ವಿತರಣೆ) ಮಾಡಲು ಪರವಾನಗಿ ಕೋರಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ವಿದ್ಯುಚ್ಛಕ್ತಿ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಣ ಆಯೋಗ (ಕೆಇಆರ್ ಸಿ) ಕ್ಕೆ ಅರ್ಜಿ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿರುವ ಕುರಿತು ಪ್ರತಿಕ್ರಿಯಿಸಿದ ಸಚಿವರು, “ಇಂಧನ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಬಲಿಷ್ಠವಾಗಿದೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ನಿಮ್ಮ (ನೌಕರರ) ಪರವಾಗಿದೆ. ಖಾಸಗೀಕರಣ ವಿಚಾರಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಸೂಕ್ತ ನಿರ್ದೇಶನ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅದರಂತೆ ಎಸ್ಕಾಂಗಳು ಕೆಇಆರ್ ಸಿ ಮುಂದೆ ಆಕ್ಷೇಪಣೆ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿವೆ. ನಾವು ಯಾವುದೇ ಖಾಸಗಿ ಕಂಪನಿಗೆ ಕಡಿಮೆ ಇಲ್ಲ. ನೌಕರರು ಮತ್ತು ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ ಬೇಡಿಕೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಸ್ಪಂದಿಸಲಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಮುಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಚಿವ ಸಂಪುಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಚರ್ಚಿಸಿ ಸೂಕ್ತ ಕ್ರಮ ಜರುಗಿಸಲಾಗುವುದು. ನಾವು ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡಲು ಬಂದವರು. ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಖಾಸಗೀಕರಣ ವಿಚಾರ ಬರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ,” ಎಂದು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟಪಡಿಸಿದರು.
“ಇಂಧನ ಇಲಾಖೆ ಈಗಾಗಲೇ ದೂರದೃಷ್ಟಿಯ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಸಿದ್ದಪಡಿಸಿದೆ, ಮುಂದಿನ 25 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಅವಧಿಗೆ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಭ್ರದತೆ ಒದಗಿಸಲು ಯೋಜನೆ ಸಿದ್ದವಾಗಿದೆ. ರೈತರ ಜತೆಗೆ 10,000 ಎಕರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೌರ ಪಾರ್ಕ್ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ರೈತರು ಇನ್ನೂ 10,000 ಎಕರೆ ಕೊಡಲು ಮುಂದೆ ಬಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಉತ್ಪಾದನೆ ಅತ್ಯುತ್ತಮವಾಗಿದೆ. ಪೀಕ್ ಅವರ್ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಮಾರಾಟವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿರುವುದರಿಂದ ಇಲಾಖೆಗೆ ಲಾಭವಾಗಿದೆ. ವಿನಿಮಯ ಆಧಾರದ ಮೇಲೆ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಪಡೆಯುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ದೀರ್ಘಾವಧಿ ಒಪ್ಪಂದಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಖರೀದಿ ಮೂಲಕ ಇಂಧನ ಭದ್ರತೆಗೆ ಕ್ರಮ ವಹಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ,” ಎಂದರು.
“ಗೃಹಜ್ಯೋತಿ ಮೂಲಕ 1.67 ಕೋಟಿ ಗ್ರಾಹಕರಿಗೆ ಉಚಿತ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಇದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಬಜೆಟ್ ನಲ್ಲೇ ಅನುದಾನ ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. ರೈತರ ಪಂಪ್ ಸೆಟ್ ಗಳಿಗೆ ಉಚಿತ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಪೂರೈಸಲು 21,000 ಕೋಟಿ ರೂ. ಅನುದಾನ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ನಮ್ಮ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು, ಇಂಜಿನಿಯರ್ ಮತ್ತು ನೌಕರರು ತಂಡವಾಗಿ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಯಾವುದೇ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆ ಎದುರಾದರೆ ಶೀಘ್ರವೇ ಪರಿಹಾರ ನೀಡಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ,” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
“ಇಂಧನ ಇಲಾಖೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂಲ ಸೌಕರ್ಯ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯ ವೇಗವಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದೆ. 120 ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಉಪಕೇಂದ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದ್ದೇವೆ. ಮುಂದಿನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳು ಜಾರಿಯಾಗಲಿವೆ. ಆ ಮೂಲಕ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಪೂರೈಕೆಯನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಪಕಗೊಳಿಸಲು ನಮ್ಮ ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಬದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ,” ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

No Privatization of Power Distribution in Karnataka: Energy Minister K.J. George
The Energy Department is stronger than private players in supplying electricity to the state
Bengaluru, June 29, 2026 Energy Minister K.J. George today said that there is no proposal to privatize electricity distribution in Karnataka, emphasizing that the state’s Energy Department is strong and capable of delivering reliable power supply to consumers.
He was speaking today at a felicitation programme organized at Bengaluru’s Palace Grounds by the Federation of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Employees’ Unions and Associations in honour of Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and the Energy Minister.
Responding to reports that Tata Power Company has applied to the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission (KERC) seeking a licence to distribute electricity in Karnataka, the Energy Minister K J George said, “The Energy Department is strong. Our government stands with you (employees). Appropriate directions have already been issued regarding the privatization issue, and accordingly, the ESCOMs have filed objections before KERC. We are in no way inferior to any private company. We will respond positively to the demands of employees and officers. In the coming days, the matter will be discussed in the Cabinet and appropriate action will be taken. We have come here to serve the people of the state. Therefore, the question of privatization does not arise,” he clarified.
“The Energy Department has already prepared visionary plans, including a roadmap to ensure energy security for the next 25 years. We have established solar parks on 10,000 acres in partnership with farmers, and farmers have come forward to provide another 10,000 acres. Power generation has been excellent. The department has benefited by increasing the sale of electricity during peak hours. Measures have also been taken to ensure energy security through power exchange mechanisms and long-term power purchase agreements,” Energy Minister KJ George added.
“Under the Gruha Jyothi scheme, we have provided free electricity to 1.67 crore consumers. Budgetary allocations have already been made for this purpose. We are providing ₹21,000 crore to supply free electricity to farmers’ pump sets. Our officers, engineers, and employees are working as a team. Whenever any problem arises, they resolve it promptly,” KJ George said.
“The work of strengthening infrastructure in the Energy Department is progressing rapidly. We have established 120 power substations, and several more projects will be implemented in the coming days. Through these initiatives, our government remains committed to ensuring reliable and adequate power supply,” KJ George noted.
