PYAAS FOUNDATION hands over the completed Kelkarbag well

Pragativahini News, Belagavi – PYAAS FOUNDATION on Tuesday handed over the completed Kelkarbag well to the Belagavi City Corporation. The foundation started working on this well in May 2018 and work was completed in two seasons.

      The well was originally dug in the British era by Shankar Shettappa Kalghatgi but was converted into a dump and closed with debris and wastes .There were two previous attempts to rejuvenate the well which failed and the well was about to be closed forever. This was the time when PYAAS FOUNDATION was approached by the grand children of Kalghatgi to try and restore the well .

PYAAS took this up as a challenge and over two summers completely restored the well .This was the first attempt by PYAAS and its first urban project too .The well was fitted with a filter by the city Corporation in 2019.The well came into highlight when in 2019 the Hindalga pump  was flooded and closed . Water from the well was supplied by the corporation and the foundation to the entire Belagavi north . The well is an excellent source of water and can benefit upto 10000 citizens around its vicinity .The water has been tested multiple times and found fit for consumption by the municipal authorities .

     Speaking on the occasion the DC Mr Hiremath hailed the work done by the foundation and said that such model should be emulated by other NGOs.  Anil Beneke MLA Belagavi North thanked the foundation and offered all cooperation in the further activities of PYAAS .

Jagadish the commissioner of Belagavi City Corporation expressed great satisfaction at the completed project .Dr Madhav Prabhu President PYAAS thanked the donors including Mrs Devlapur , Ex Students of St Paul’s High school and others for their contributions .Dr Preeti Kore the Secretary of PYAAS presented the vote of thanks.

PYAAS FOUNDATION has been working for water management in Belagavi for the four years and has rejuvenated nine lakes in this short span .The foundation is working on the Mannikeri lake at present .The work of the foundation is being appreciated in all quarters.

  The function was attended by Shashidhar Kurer MD of Belagavi Smart city Ltd , Mr Chandrappa the AEE of KUWS , Directors of the foundation Abhimanyu Daga , Avadhot Samant , Satish Lad , Deepak Oulkar , Suryakant , Vijay Bhagwat and citizens in the vicinity of the well were present in large numbers.
