ಯಲ್ಲಾಪುರ: ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ದರೋಡೆಗೆ ಸಂಚು ರೂಪಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರ ಮೂಲದ 8 ಮಂದಿ ಅಂತರ್ರಾಜ್ಯ ದರೋಡೆಕೋರರ ತಂಡವನ್ನು ಯಲ್ಲಾಪುರ ಪೊಲೀಸರು ಮಿಂಚಿನ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆ ನಡೆಸಿ ಬಂಧಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಶಿರಸಿಯ ಸುಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ಶ್ರೀ ಮಾರಿಕಾಂಬಾ ದೇವಿಯ ಜಾತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೈಚಳಕ ತೋರಿಸಲು ಈ ಗ್ಯಾಂಗ್ ಹೊಂಚು ಹಾಕಿತ್ತು ಎಂಬ ಆಘಾತಕಾರಿ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ತನಿಖೆಯಿಂದ ಬಯಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ 25 ರಂದು ಮುಂಜಾನೆ 5:30 ರ ಸುಮಾರಿಗೆ, ಯಲ್ಲಾಪುರ ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಹೆದ್ದಾರಿಯ ಕೆ. ಮಿಲನ್ ಹೋಟೆಲ್ ಬಳಿ ತಂಡವೊಂದು ಮಾರಕಾಸ್ತ್ರಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ದರೋಡೆಗೆ ಸಜ್ಜಾಗಿರುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಪೊಲೀಸರಿಗೆ ಖಚಿತ ಮಾಹಿತಿ ಲಭ್ಯವಾಗಿತ್ತು. ತಕ್ಷಣ ಕಾರ್ಯಪ್ರವೃತ್ತರಾದ ಯಲ್ಲಾಪುರ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯ ಪಿಎಸ್ಐ ಸಿದ್ದಪ್ಪ ಗುಡಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಅವರ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ, ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಧಾವಿಸಿ ಸುತ್ತುವರೆದು ಆರೋಪಿಗಳನ್ನು ವಶಕ್ಕೆ ಪಡೆಯುವಲ್ಲಿ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಸಂಬಂಧ ಯಲ್ಲಾಪುರ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಠಾಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಕರಣ ದಾಖಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ತನಿಖೆ ಮುಂದುವರಿದಿದೆ.
ಬಂಧಿತರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ ಪುಣೆ ಮತ್ತು ಥಾಣೆ ಮೂಲದವರಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಇವರನ್ನು ಪುಣೆಯ ಉಮೇಶ ರಾಮಾ ಗಾಯಕವಾಡ (35), ಲಖನ್ ಸುಹಾಸ್ ಜಾದವ (30), ಪ್ರಶಾಂತ ಅಖಿಲ್ ಪವಾರ (35), ಹಾಗೂ ಥಾಣೆಯ ಶ್ರೀನಾಥ ಶಂಕರ ಜಾದವ (39), ದೀಪಕ ಚಂದರಲಾಲ್ ದುಂಬಾನಿ (47), ಸುಂದರ ಕೈಲಾಸ್ ಗಾಯಕವಾಡ (50), ನಾಗುಬಾಯಿ ಗಣೇಶ ಜಾದವ (60) ಮತ್ತು ಅಂಬಿಕಾ ಪ್ರಕಾಶ ಜಾದವ (39) ಎಂದು ಗುರುತಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಖತರ್ನಾಕ್ ಗ್ಯಾಂಗ್ನ ಹಿನ್ನೆಲೆ ಮತ್ತು ಕೃತ್ಯದ ಶೈಲಿ: ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರದ ಕೈಕಡಿ ಸಮುದಾಯಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದ ಈ ಗ್ಯಾಂಗ್, ಕಳೆದ 3-4 ವರ್ಷಗಳಿಂದ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಭಾರತದ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧ ದೇವಾಲಯಗಳು, ಪ್ರವಾಸಿ ತಾಣಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಜಾತ್ರೆಗಳನ್ನೇ ಗುರಿಯಾಗಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಕಳ್ಳತನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಜನಸಂದಣಿ ಇರುವ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಪಿಕ್ ಪಾಕೇಟ್, ಮಹಿಳೆಯರ ಕತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಚಿನ್ನದ ಸರ ಮತ್ತು ಬಳೆ ಕಳ್ಳತನ ಮಾಡುವುದರಲ್ಲಿ ಇವರು ನಿಸ್ಸೀಮರು. ಕೃತ್ಯ ಎಸಗಿ ತಮ್ಮದೇ ವಾಹನದಲ್ಲಿ ಪರಾರಿಯಾಗುವ ಇವರು, ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರು ಹಿಡಿಯಲು ಬಂದರೆ ಕಲ್ಲಿನಿಂದ ಹಲ್ಲೆ ನಡೆಸುವ ಕ್ರೂರ ಸ್ವಭಾವ ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಈ ಹಿಂದೆಯೂ ಉತ್ತರ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಗೋಕರ್ಣ ಮತ್ತು ಮುರ್ಡೇಶ್ವರದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳ್ಳತನ ಮಾಡಿರುವ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಯಲ್ಲಾಪುರ ಪೊಲೀಸರ ಎದುರು ಬಾಯ್ಬಿಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಜಪ್ತಿ ಮಾಡಲಾದ ವಸ್ತುಗಳು (ಅಂದಾಜು ಮೌಲ್ಯ ₹4 ಲಕ್ಷ): ಆರೋಪಿಗಳಿಂದ ಕೃತ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬಳಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಒಂದು ಮಾರುತಿ ಎರ್ಟಿಗಾ ಕಾರು, ನಾಲ್ಕು ಕಬ್ಬಿಣದ ರಾಡ್ಗಳು, ಒಂದು ಖಾರದ ಪುಡಿ ಪ್ಯಾಕೆಟ್, ನಾಲ್ಕು ಮಂಕಿ ಕ್ಯಾಪ್ಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಏಳು ಮೊಬೈಲ್ ಫೋನ್ಗಳನ್ನು ವಶಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಉತ್ತರ ಕನ್ನಡ ಜಿಲ್ಲಾ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ವರಿಷ್ಠಾಧಿಕಾರಿ ದೀಪನ್ ಎಂ. (ಐಪಿಎಸ್), ಹೆಚ್ಚುವರಿ ಎಸ್ಪಿಗಳಾದ ಕೃಷ್ಣಮೂರ್ತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಜಗದೀಶ ಎಂ.ಎನ್., ಡಿವೈಎಸ್ಪಿ ಗೀತಾ ಪಾಟೀಲ್ ಅವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಈ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಚರಣೆ ನಡೆದಿದೆ. ಯಲ್ಲಾಪುರ ಸಿಪಿಐ ರಮೇಶ ಹನಾಪೂರ, ಗೋಕರ್ಣ ಸಿಪಿಐ ಶ್ರೀಧರ ಎಸ್.ಆರ್. ಅವರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದ ದಾಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪಿಎಸ್ಐಗಳಾದ ರಾಜಶೇಖರ ವಂದಲಿ, ಸಿದ್ದಪ್ಪ ಗುಡಿ, ಅನಿಲ್ ಮಾದರ, ಮಹಾಂತೇಶ ಕುಂಬಾರ, ಎಎಸ್ಐ ಗಜಾನನ ನಾಯ್ಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಇತರ ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಕಾರವಾರದ ಟೆಕ್ನಿಕಲ್ ಸೆಲ್ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪಾತ್ರ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಯಲ್ಲಾಪುರ ಪೊಲೀಸರ ಈ ಸಮಯಪ್ರಜ್ಞೆಯನ್ನು ಹಿರಿಯ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕರು ಶ್ಲಾಘಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
Plot to Steal at Sirsi Fair: 8 Interstate Robbers Lying in Wait with Deadly Weapons Arrested
Yellapur: In a swift operation, Yellapur police arrested an eight-member interstate gang from Maharashtra that was allegedly plotting a highway robbery. Investigation has revealed shocking information that the gang had been waiting to carry out thefts at the famous Shri Marikamba Devi fair in Sirsi.
At around 5:30 a.m. on February 25, police received credible information that a group was preparing for robbery with deadly weapons near K. Milan Hotel on the Yellapur National Highway. Acting immediately, PSI Siddappa Gudi of Yellapur Police Station and his team rushed to the spot, surrounded the suspects, and successfully took them into custody. A case has been registered at Yellapur Police Station and further investigation is underway.
All the arrested individuals are natives of Pune and Thane in Maharashtra. They have been identified as Umesh Rama Gaikwad (35), Lakhan Suhas Jadhav (30), Prashant Akhil Pawar (35) from Pune, and Srinath Shankar Jadhav (39), Deepak Chandarlal Dumbani (47), Sundar Kailas Gaikwad (50), Nagubai Ganesh Jadhav (60), and Ambika Prakash Jadhav (39) from Thane.
Background and Modus Operandi of the Dangerous Gang:
Belonging to the Kaikadi community of Maharashtra, the gang has allegedly been targeting famous temples, tourist spots, and fairs across South India for the past 3–4 years. They are experts in pickpocketing in crowded places and stealing gold chains and bangles from women. After committing crimes, they reportedly escape in their own vehicle and, if confronted by the public, attack with stones. They have also confessed to committing thefts earlier in Gokarna and Murudeshwar in Uttara Kannada district.
Seized Items (Estimated Value ₹4 lakh):
Police recovered a Maruti Ertiga car used for the crimes, four iron rods, a packet of chili powder, four monkey caps, and seven mobile phones.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Uttara Kannada Superintendent of Police Deepan M. (IPS), Additional SPs Krishnamurthy and Jagadish M.N., and DYSP Geetha Patil. The raid was led by Yellapur CPI Ramesh Hanapur and Gokarna CPI Shridhar S.R., with key participation from PSIs Rajashekhar Vandali, Siddappa Gudi, Anil Madar, Mahantesh Kumbar, ASI Gajanan Naik, other police staff, and the technical cell team from Karwar. Senior officers and the public have praised Yellapur police for their timely action.
