6 lakh volunteers enrolled for community-oriented services in Karnataka

KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (Deemed to be University), Belagavi in collaboration with the State NSS Cell, Government of Karnataka, Bengaluru and the NSS Regional Directorate, Government of India, Bengaluru had organized  7 days NSS National Integration Camp at KLE Centaury Convention Centre, KAHER, J. N. Medical College campus, Belagavi.  A formal valedictory was held on 5th March 2019.

150 NSS student volunteers and Programme Officers of various Universities across the three neighboring states participated in this Camp.

Dr. V.D. Patil, Registrar welcomed. Dr. N.S. Mahantshetti, Principal, J. N. Medical College introduced the Chief Guest Dr. G.Kalpana, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports Affairs, Government of Karnataka and Dr. Prabhakar Kore, MP (Rajya Sabha) and Chancellor  of the University.

Dr. G.Kalpana, Additional Chief Secretary, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports Affairs, Government of Karnataka was felicitated on this occasion. Speaking on the occasion, she said the youth are the national builders, there are about 34 universities who have 3000 NSS units and 6 lakh volunteers are enrolled all over Karnataka and are actively involved in the community-oriented services. She also said that all these NSS volunteers and Program Officers are trained for overall skill development.

Competitions like Rangoli, Speech, Debate, essay, etc. were conducted on this occasion. The prizes were distributed to the winners by the Chief Guest. Swachha Bharat Summer Internship Program Completion Certificates were distributed to the Program Officers and NSS volunteers. Feed-back on the conduct of the camp was given by the volunteers and Program Officers.

Dr. Prabhakar Kore presided over the function. In his presidential remarks, he called upon the students to carry the good memory of the seven days Camp and remember the whole event. He also said that the University is ready to host such National and State level NSS events as it is equipped with all the necessary facilities.

Dr. Ashwini Narsannavar,  NSS Programme Coordinator proposed vote of thanks.  Dr. Syed Killedar and Dr. Nirmala Anand anchored the programme.  All the Principals, Vice Principals and NSS Programme Officers, Faculty Members,  University Officials and students were present on the occasion.
