An elephant which had come to drink the water in the back water of Kali River near Dandeli had been killed in the crocodile attack on Wednesday.
The elephant had come to the Pickup dam at Bommanahallli. The crocodile launched a deadly attack on the elephant and dragged it into the water. All effort of elephant to escape from the clutches of the crocodile proved futile and it died in the water.
The forest officials arrived on the scene and removed the carcass of the elephant from the dam. Later the elephant was created in the nearby forest.
