
Pragativahini News, Belagavi: Girish Hosur, an IFS Officer who is native of Bidi village in Khanapur taluk of Belagavi has been posted as Secretary to Chief Minister of Government of Karnataka at Bengaluru from immediate effect on Thursday.
Hosur was earlier Joint Secretary (JS) in the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Higher Education, Government of India. In the earlier years, he has also served as Deputy Conservator of Forests (DCF) in Belagavi.
During his tenure as DCF, he had taken up lot of initiatives like Green City project in which 50,000 tree’s were planted in the city, that had made him a popular official. Hosur, who is Himachal Pradesh cadet, had also initiated projects of constructing artificial water tanks and check-dams in deep jungles for facilitating drinking to the wildlife during summer season.
Hosur was also Director in the department of School Education and Literacy, coming under HRD. He had received Swachh Bharat Mission Inter Ministerial Award for his efforts made in Swachh Vidyalay campaign, Swachh Vidyalaya puraskar and organising massive campaign to promote Swachhta in the schools across the country. The efforts of Hosur had succeeded in receiving an overwhelming participation of 6.5 lakh schools with 2.85 crore and 2.67 crore children in painting and essay competitions respectively.
