Investigation on about the money seized at Nesaragi

The Income Tax authorities are investigating the origin of the money seized at Nesaragi check post which fall under the Kitturu assembly constituency.
Rs. 1.90 crore was seized by the authorities on Wednesday evening. The money was being transported in a Swift Dezire car (KA24 A 0688) from Belagavi and was caught at Nesaragi during the routine check-up. The preliminary report say that the money was being transported to the branches of DCC back from its head branch in Belagavi. The officials of Election Flying squad were present in the check post when the money was seized it is said.
On check-up the occupants of the vehicle failed to produce the relevant documents and the officials brought the issue to the notice of Assistant Returning officer, Rajendra Bekal who rushed to the spot and brought the issue to the notice of the IT officials. The officials inspected the documents till late night on Wednesday. Later the money was kept in the safe custody in the taluk treasury.
Tahashildar Vivek Shenvi, Dy SP Karunakar Shetty, and S. R. Meharawade head of the flying squad Check post heat Poojer and Nodal officer Yegeshwar were present.
