Over 1000 Job Aspirants Gathered Today at Skill India’s Job Fair at Belagavi

The city’s largest job fair witnessed participation from nearly 40 Corporates and registered a footfall of over 1000 skill seekers and job aspirants

Thousands of job seekers thronged the premises of Angadi Institute of Technology & Management at Belzgevi, to participate in the Skill India Rozgar Mela, organised here today.

One of the largest job fairs in the city, the Rozgar Mela witnessed overwhelming participation from nearly 40 Corporates and registered a footfall of more than 1000 skill seekers and job aspirants. Anantkumar Hegde, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India & Suresh Angadi, Member of Parliament, Abhay Patil, MLA, Anil Benake, MLA graced the opening ceremony with their presence.

Organised by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, the Skill India Rozgar Mela gave an opportunity to job seekers to meet prospective employers and explore various employment opportunities, including entrepreneurship and apprenticeship.

It also offered a platform to the organizations to interact with potential employees in an informal setting.  Leading organisations such as Axis Bank, Aegis Global, Ola Bikes, HDFC, Siemens, Larsen & Toubro, among others participated in the event. The Rozgar Mela brought skilled candidates in direct contact with recruiters, HR managers, admission officers and advisory bodies/training providers.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Anantkumar Hegde,  Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, said, “I am delighted to see enthusiastic participation from the youth of Belagavi. The Government is putting in all the effort to realise Prime Minister’s vision of making India a skilled nation and empowering its youth with skill training to be self-reliant and confident. Karnataka Government is working collaboratively with the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship to create avenues for training of youth and women to connect them with jobs and self-employment, which will transform the lives of millions. This Rozgar Mela is a platform that will not only provide a glimpse into the potential employment opportunities but will also connect job-seekers to recruiters and training providers.”

Suresh Angadi, Member of Parliament, Belagavi, said, “The Rozgar Mela is great platform both for the industries as well as the youth to benefit from each other. The Rozgar Mela, being organized at such a scale, is a fantastic effort that will help the youth to seek entrepreneurship or get appropriate jobs With a focus on Skill India Mission, our endeavor is to provide opportunities to skilled and job-ready youth to meet the industry’s existing and futuristic job requirements. The encouraging participation of corporates is an acknowledgement of the learning, training and expertise that these skilled candidates have achieved.”

 Apart from this, Skills Exhibition was also organised.  The Skills Exhibition represented by Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra and Sector Skill Councils will bring in a plethora of skill/ trades available for vocational training in various sectors such as Automobile, IT& ITES, Retail, Healthcare, Beauty, Agriculture and more. 

Striving to achieve Prime Minister’s vision for a skilled nation, NSDC, under the aegis of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship has been collaborating with various stakeholders viz. Industry, Institutions, Training Providers and Sector Skill Councils to create platforms like Rozgar Mela, Kaushal Mela and Skill Saathi to connect youth with vocational training and link job seekers with job providers.

Strengthening the Skill India Mission, NSDC has been implementing various private and government skill training schemes and initiatives such as Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK), which are targeted towards skill training of youth, especially school/ college dropouts and empowers them with employable skills.  Till date, nearly 25 lakh candidates have been certified under the PMKVY scheme and over 10 Lakh candidates have been placed in jobs, or have taken up self-employment.
