ಪ್ರಗತಿವಾಹಿನಿ ಸುದ್ದಿ, ಬೆಳಗಾವಿ : ಲೀವರ್ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಕಾರ‍್ಯಕ್ಷಮತೆಯನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಜೀವನ್ಮರಣದ ನಡುವೆ ಹೋರಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ತಂದೆಗೆ ತನ್ನದೇ ಲಿವರ್ ನ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಭಾಗ ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿ ತಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಲ್ಲಿ ಮಗ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
ರೋಗಿಗೆ ಯಶಸ್ವಿ ಲೀವರ್ ಕಸಿ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಿ ಜೀವವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಎಲ್ಇ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಡಾ. ಪ್ರಭಾಕರ ಕೋರೆ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ ಹಾಗೂ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಕೇಂದ್ರದ ಗ್ಯಾಸ್ಟ್ರೋಎಂಟ್ರಾಲಾಜಿ ತಜ್ಞವೈದ್ಯರ ತಂಡವು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿದೆ.
ತಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲೇಬೇಕೆಂಬ ಛಲ ತೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದ ಮಗ ಲಿವರ್ ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿ ತಂದೆ –ಮಗನ ಬಾಂಧವ್ಯವನ್ನು ಸಮಾಜಕ್ಕೆ ತೋರಿಸಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ.
ರಾಯಬಾಗ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ 56 ವರ್ಷದ ರೈತನ ಲೀವರ್ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ಕಾರ‍್ಯಕ್ಷಮತೆಯನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡಾಗ ಲಿವರ್ ಕಸಿ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ನೆರವೇರಿಸುವುದು ಅನಿವಾರ‍್ಯವಾಗಿತ್ತು, ತಡಮಾಡಿದರೆ ಜೀವಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪಾಯವಿದ್ದ ಕಾರಣ 29 ವರ್ಷದ ಮಗ ಲಿವರ್ ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದರು. ಜೀವಂತ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯ ಲೀವರ್ ತೆಗೆದು ಲಿವರ್ ಹಾಳಾದ ರೋಗಿಗೆ ಕಸಿ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಕ್ಲಿಷ್ಕರವಾದ ಕಸಿ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಿ, ರೋಗಿಗೆ ಪುನರ್ ಜನ್ಮ ನೀಡುವಲ್ಲಿ ವೈದ್ಯರ ತಂಡ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಉತ್ತರ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ, ದ. ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರ ಹಾಗೂ ಗೋವಾ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ಜೀವಂತ ದಾನಿಯ ಲೀವರ್ ಕಸಿ ಮಾಡಿರುವುದು ಪ್ರಥಮ.
ಈ ವಿಷಯವನ್ನು ಪತ್ರಿಕಾಗೋಷ್ಠಿಯಲ್ಲಿಂದು ತಿಳಿಸಿದ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಗ್ಯಾಸ್ಟ್ರೋಎಂಟ್ರಾಲಾಜಿಸ್ಟ್ ಹಾಗೂ ಲೀವರ್ ತಜ್ಞವೈದ್ಯರಾದ ಡಾ. ಸಂತೋಷ ಹಜಾರೆ ಅವರು, ಕೊನೆಯ ಹಂತದ ಲಿವರ್ ವೈಫಲ್ಯದಿಂದ ಬಳಲುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಜೀವವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಲು ಅವರ 29 ವರ್ಷದ ಮಗ ತನ್ನ ಲಿವರ್‌ನ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ಭಾಗವನ್ನು ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದು, ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯ ನಂತರ ದಾನಿ ಮತ್ತು ದಾನ ಪಡೆದ ರೋಗಿಯೂ ಕೂಡ ಗುಣಮುಖರಾಗಿದ್ದು, ದಾನಿ (ಮಗ) 8ನೇ ದಿನಕ್ಕೆ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಿಂದ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆಗೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸಂಕೀರ್ಣ ಮತ್ತು ತಾಂತ್ರಿಕತೆಯಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿದ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯನ್ನು ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನ ಆಸ್ಟರ್ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯ ಸಹಕಾರದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಲಿವರ್ ಟ್ರಾನ್ಸ್ಪ್ಲಾಂಟ್ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಕ ಡಾ. ಸೋನಲ್ ಅಸ್ತಾನಾ, ಡಾ. ವಚನ ಹುಕ್ಕೇರಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಡಾ. ರೋಮೆಲ್ ಎಸ್ ಅವರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಎಲ್ಇ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಡಾ. ಪ್ರಭಾಕರ ಕೋರೆ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯ ಗ್ಯಾಸ್ಟ್ರೋಎಂಟ್ರಾಲಾಜಿ ಲೀವರ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಕರಾದ ಡಾ. ಸುದರ್ಶನ್ ಚೌಗಲೆ ಮತ್ತು ಡಾ. ಕಿರಣ್ ಉರಬಿನಹಟ್ಟಿ ತಂಡವು ಯಶಸ್ವಿ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ನೆರವೇರಿಸಿತು.
ಕ್ಲಿಷ್ಟಕರವಾದ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ನೆರವೇರಿಸಲು ನುರಿತ ತಜ್ಞವೈದ್ಯರು, ಅತ್ಯಾಧುನಿಕ ಮೂಲ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯ, ಪ್ರತ್ಯೇಕ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸಾ ಕೊಠಡಿ, ತೀವ್ರನಿಗಾ ಘಟಕಗಳು, ನುರಿತ ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ್ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳು ಅತ್ಯವಶ್ಯ. ಅವುಗಳೆಲ್ಲ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಲಭ್ಯವಿದ್ದು, ಇಂಥ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗಳನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ. ಸುಮಾರು ಹತ್ತು ಗಂಟೆಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಸುಧೀರ್ಘ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅರಿವಳಿಕೆ ತಜ್ಞವೈದ್ಯರಾದ ಡಾ. ಅರುಣ್ ವಿ., ಡಾ. ರಾಜೇಶ್ ಮಾನೆ, ಡಾ. ಮಂಜುನಾಥ ಪಾಟೀಲ್ ಮತ್ತು ಡಾ. ರೂಪಾ ಎಂ.ಎನ್ ಅವರ ತಂಡವು ಸಹಕರಿಸಿತು. ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ್ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿಗಳಾದ ವೈಶಾಲಿ ಸೇಬಲ್ ಮತ್ತು ರುದ್ರೇಶ್ ಹಿರೇಮಠ್ ನೇತೃತ್ವದ ತಂಡವು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ವಹಿಸಿತು. ಲಿವರ್ ಟ್ರಾನ್ಸ್ಪ್ಲಾಂಟ್ ಕೋಆರ್ಡಿನೇಟರ್ ಡಾ. ಗೀತಾ ದೇಸಾಯಿ ಮತ್ತು ಬಸವರಾಜ್ ಮಜತಿ ಅವರು ಆಪ್ತಸಮಾಲೋಚನೆ ನಡೆಸಿದರು.

ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಕಾರ‍್ಯಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾದ ಡಾ. ಪ್ರಭಾಕರ ಕೋರೆ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಈ ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಬಹು ಅಂಗಾಂಗ ಕಸಿ ನೆರವೆರಿಸುವುದರ ಜೊತೆಗೆ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಮಹಾವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಬೋಧನಾ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯ ಹೊಂದಿರುವ ರಾಜ್ಯದ ಏಕೈಕ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆ ಇದಾಗಿದೆ. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಅಲ್ಲದೇ, ಗೋವಾ ಮಹಾರಾಷ್ಟ್ರ ಹಾಗೂ ವಿವಿಧ ರಾಜ್ಯಗಳ ನಗರಗಳಿಂದಲೂ ಅಂಗಾAಗ ಕಸಿ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗಾಗಿ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಗೆ ಆಗಮಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
ಅತ್ಯಾಧುನಿಕ ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯಗಳು, ನುರಿತ ನರ್ಸಿಂಗ ಸಿಬ್ಬಂದಿ, ಕೈಗೆಟಕುವ ವೆಚ್ಚದಲ್ಲಿ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟದ ಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ದೊರೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವದರಿಂದ ಇತ್ತಕಡೆ ರೋಗಿಗಳು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಆಗಮಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕೆಎಲ್ಇ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಡಾ. ಪ್ರಭಾಕರ ಕೋರೆ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೆ 101 ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಕಿಡ್ನಿ( ಮೂತ್ರಪಿಂಡ), 22 ಲೀವರ್ ಹಾಗೂ 14 ಹೃದಯ ಕಸಿ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತಸೆಯನ್ನು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ. ಅಲ್ಲದೇ ಅಸ್ಥಿಮಜ್ಜೆ ( ಬೋನ್ ಮ್ಯಾರೋ ಟ್ರಾನ್ಸಪ್ಲಾö್ಯಂಟ ) ಕಸಿ ಕೂಡ ನೆರವೇರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಉತ್ತರ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಅತೀ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಅಂಗಾಂಗ ಕಸಿ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಯನ್ನು ಕೆಎಲ್ಇ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ ಡಾ. ಪ್ರಭಾಕರ ಕೋರೆ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯು ನೆರವೇರಿಸಿರುವ ಕೀರ್ತಿಗೆ ಭಾಜನವಾಗಿದೆ. ದೀರ್ಘಕಾಲ ನಡೆಯುವ ಕಸಿ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆಗಳು ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಅತ್ಯಧಿಕ ವೆಚ್ಚ ತಗಲುತ್ತದೆ. ಬೆಂಗಳೂರಿನಂತ ನಗರಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಲಿಸಿದರೆ ನಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿ ಅತೀ ಕಡಿಮೆ ವೆಚ್ಚದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಂಗಾಂಗಳ ಕಸಿ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ನೆರವೇರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ.
ಮೆದಳು ನಿಷ್ಕ್ರೀಯಗೊಂಡ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯು ಮಾಡಿದ ದಾನದಿಂದ 22 ಯಶಸ್ವಿ ಲಿವರ್ ಕಸಿ ನೆರವೆರಿಸಿದ್ದು, ರೋಗಿಗಳು ತೋರಿದ ಪ್ರಿತಿ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಧನ್ಯವಾದಗಳು. ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಥಮ ಬಾರಿಗೆ ಜೀವಂತ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯು ಮಾಡಿದ ದಾನದಿಂದ ಲಿವರ್ ಕಸಿ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಕೇವಲ ನಮ್ಮ ಆಸ್ಪತ್ರೆಯೊಂದರಲ್ಲಿಯೇ 35ಕ್ಕೂ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ರೋಗಿಗಳು ಯಕೃತ್ತು ಕಸಿಗಾಗಿ ಕಾಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ರೋಗಿಗಳ ಬೇಡಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸಲು ಅಂಗಾಂಗ ದಾನಗಳು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಬೇಕು. ಲಿವರ್ ವೈಫಲ್ಯಕ್ಕೊಳಗಾದ ರೋಗಿಗಳ ಕುಟುಂಬ ಸದಸ್ಯರು ಸ್ವಯಂಪ್ರೇರಣೆಯಿಂದ ಅಂಗಾಂಗ ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿ, ತಮ್ಮ ಪ್ರೀತಿಪಾತ್ರರ ಜೀವವನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಬೇಕು. ಯಶಸ್ವಿ ಕಸಿ ಶಸ್ತ್ರಚಿಕಿತ್ಸೆ ನಡೆಸಿದ ಡಾ. ಸಂತೋಷ್ ಹಜಾರೆ ಮತ್ತು ಡಾ. ಸುದರ್ಶನ್ ಚೌಗಲೆ ಅವರ ನೇತೃತ್ವದ ತಂಡವನ್ನು ಅವರು ಅಭಿನಂದಿಸಿದರು.

A new milestone was achieved at KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital and MRC Belagavi when the first “Living Donor Liver Transplantation Surgery” was successfully performed last week. This was the first such surgery performed in the entire North Karnataka, South Maharashtra and Goa.
Giving details of this procedure at a press conference, Dr. Santosh Hajare Chief Gastroenterologist and Liver Specialist at KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital said that the Liver Transplantation Surgery was performed on a 56 years old farmer from Harugeri town of Raibagh taluka. His son aged 29 years old came forward to donate a part of his liver to save his father’s life who was suffering from end stage liver failure. Post-surgery both the donor and recipient are doing well and the Donor (Son) is being discharged today on the 8th day after surgery. He thanked the Chairman KLE society Dr. Prabhakar Kore for his vision and believing in the transplant team and providing all the necessary infrastructure.
This highly complex and technically demanding surgery was performed in collaboration with the Aster hospitals Bangalore led by Chief Liver Transplant Surgeon Dr. Sonal Asthana and his team including Dr. Vachan Hukkeri and Dr. Rommel S and the in house KLE hospital team led by Dr. Sudarshan Chaugale and Dr. Kiran Urabinahatti. Dr. Asthana elaborated that the surgery required highly trained surgeons, state of the art infrastructure, transplant OTs, dedicated ICUs and high-end patient monitoring systems. The prolonged surgery which took nearly ten hours was efficiently managed by the team of expert anesthetists Dr. Arun V., Dr. Rajesh Mane, Dr. Manjunath Patil and Dr. Roopa MN. The Nursing part was successfully handled by the team led by Mrs. Vaishali Sable and Mr. Rudresh Hiremath. Liver Transplant coordinators Dr. Geeta Desai and Mr. Basavaraj Majati efficiently handled the entire process from counselling to surgery and discharge.
Dr. Sudarshan Chaugale explained that liver disease is very common in North Karnataka and many patients with advanced liver disease cannot afford a transplant in a corporate hospital in a Metro city. KLES Hospital has been successful in offering this expertise locally at an affordable cost. KLE and Aster Hospitals have collaborated and built a very successful liver transplant program for the people of this part of the state.
Addressing the media Dr. Prabhakar Kore the Chairman KLE Society said that KLES Prabhakar Kore Hospital has established itself as a major Multiorgan Transplant center in this part of the country. More importantly it is the only “Medical College affiliated hospital” in the state to perform Multiorgan Transplant Surgeries. Patients not only from North Karnataka but also from Goa Maharashtra and far of Metropolitan cities are coming to KLE for organ transplant surgeries. Patients are attracted by the state of the art facilities, highly trained doctors and Nursing staff and also the affordable cost for the surgery at KLE hospital. He said that KLES Prabhkar Kore Hospital till date has performed more than 101 Kidney transplants, 21 Liver transplants, 14 Heart Transplants and has recently embarked on doing Bone marrow transplantation.
After 21 successful deceased donor liver transplantations, KLES hospital has now done the first Living Donor Liver Transplant, thanks to the faith shown by the patients and their families. He said that there are more than 35 patients are waiting for liver transplant and organ donations have to increase significantly to meet the demand.
He urged the family members and near ones of liver failure patients to voluntarily come forward and donate a part of their liver to save the lives of their loved ones.
