Without true passion, it is extremely difficult to achieve or reach the target in the life and it is vitally important to clearly state goals and dedicate your life 100% towards your goals if you want to achieve a great success. So now a day’s Sport is not just an activity or a game, it’s a Passion, said Deputy Range Forest Officer Satyanarayan Vernekar.
He was addressing the students on the occasion of Annual Sports Day function at KLS Gogte Institute of Technology, Belagavi here on Monday. This function was arranged to felicitate the college students who have done exceedingly well and won at International, National, VTU Zonal and Inter Zonal level tournaments. He said that, Passionate sports persons never ask for excuses for their failures and shortcomings. Instead, they use each lesson as a building block to do it even better tomorrow. When sport persons have passion and purpose, they quickly move through tough times and stay hungry for the next day. Sport shows various ways to lead good life, through sportsmanship behavior it develops good qualities like sincerity and honesty in the human being, he told. Finally he told that, we should not settle down before we reach our goal. Later he felicitated the achievers.
Speaking on the occasion president of the function, Principal Dr. A. S. Deshpande, appreciated the students for their achievements and also appealed to start moving forward with smaller goals. Planning and Time management are the imperative ingredients plays catalysts role in achieving greater success in addition to focus and commitment towards goal, he said.
During the occasion, Student Vikrant Dhamnekar who won the gold medal in All-India Inter University best physique competition was honored with trophy and cash prize of Rs. 10,000. Also 12 students of GIT selected as university blues and they were honored with trophy and cash prize of Rs. 2500 each.
Dr. P. V. Kadagadakai, Physical Education Director, KLS GIT, welcomed the august gathering and introduced the chief guest. Prof. Ramesh Medar, Chairman, Gymkhana, KLS GIT, presented the college annual sports report. Mridula Halgekar rendered the vote of thanks and Ms. Veda Varji was the Master of ceremony.
