Role of Social Service in the Changing Perspectives of New Education System

Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi organized TEQIP 1.3 sponsored Two Day National Conference on “Role of Social Service in the Changing Perspectives of New Education System” on 6^th & 7^th September 2019 at “Jnana Sangama”, Belagavi. The inaugural function of the Conference was held on 6^th September 2019.

Chakravarthy Sulibele, Founder of Yuva Brigade was the Chief Guest and inaugurated the conference and Dr. Gananatha Shetty Yekkar, State NSS Officer, Govt. of Karnataka and  Santhosh P. N., Youth Officer, NSS Unit, Govt. of India were the Guests of Honour. Dr. Karisiddappa, Vice Chancellor of VTU presided over the function.

After inauguration of the Conference  Sulibele said that “education system should be nearer to the real world. The objective of education should be man-making, life giving and character-building”. He advised that youngsters have to inculcate service motive their lives and get happiness by serving common people in the society. “In this direction our education institutions have to rebuild and reinvent the education system of our country” he added

In his presidential address Dr. Karisiddappa said that “during the last three years VTU established NSS Units in 160 engineering colleges and also made it mandatory to every student to participate in NSS activities. Young students have to develop good practices in their lives and have to visit villages to make socio-economic survey which will be useful to the policy makers”. “Young generation has several social obligations, hence, they have to play their role very responsibly” he added.

Dr. Gananatha Shetty Yekkar and Shri Santhosh P. N. explained the importance of NSS activities in student’s life. Dr. Satish Annigeri, Registrar (Evaluation) of VTU welcomed and Dr. Appasab L. V. NSS Co-ordinator, VTU, Belagavi proposed vote of thanks. Over 500 NSS Officers and volunteers from various parts of the country were participated in the conference.
