Implementation of OBE is very much essential for all the technical colleges
Pragativahini News, Belagavi – In this smart era, industry ready engineering graduates are very much essential and to cater highly skilled graduates, it is very much essential for all the technical institutions to implement and practice outcome based education (OBE), said Dr. A. S. Deshpande, Registrar, VTU, Belagavi.
He was speaking after inaugurating one week faculty development program (FDP) on outcome based education and NBA accreditation at KLS Gogte Institute of Technology, Belagavi here on Tuesday.
Outcome-Based Education” (OBE) model is being adopted at a fast pace at Engineering colleges in India at the moment. It is considered as a giant leap forward to improve technical education in India and help Indian Engineers compete with their global counterparts, he told. Getting accreditation from NBA is mandatory and to get accredited it is compulsory that engineering institutions follow the Outcome Based Education (OBE) model, he said.
To all the courses, NBA accreditation gives the certificate of acceptance at the global platforms and also it helps higher educational institutes to know their strengths, weaknesses and opportunities, he said.
NBA accreditation helps educational institutes in securing necessary funds and it brings sound and challenging environment in the premises of an educational institute. Speaking on National Education Policy (NEP) he told that, this policy will bring paradigm shift in the education sector and all the education institutes and students should be prepared to accept these changes. This policy will bring all the education sectors/fields on a single platform so that learners should effectively equip with all the types of skills and knowledge to face global changes, he said.
GIT Principal Prof. D.A.Kulkarni welcomed the gathering, FDP coordinator Prof. Veena Desai gave introductory remarks, Prof. Sagar Santaji gave vote of thanks. More than 50 participants from VTU affiliated colleges participated in the FDP.
