₹700-crore integrated medical campus to strengthen medical education, advanced healthcare and research in North Karnataka
Hubballi: Union Minister for Home Affairs Amit Shah will dedicate the new academic building of KLE Jagadguru Gangadhar Mahaswamigalu Moorusavirmath Medical College (JGMMMC) and the 1,200-bed KLE Hospital & Medical Research Centre (KLE HMRC) at Gabbur, Hubballi, to the service of the people on Saturday, September 19, 2026.
KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER) Chancellor and KLE Society Honorary President Dr. Prabhakar B. Kore announced this at a press conference held in Hubballi on Wednesday.
The dedication ceremony will be held in the august presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Shri Gurusiddha Rajayogindra Mahaswamiji of Moorusavirmath, Hubballi.
Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Karnataka Minister for Medical Education and Skill Development Dr. Sharanaprakash R. Patil, and Karnataka Minister for Labour and Employment Santosh S. Lad will grace the occasion along with other Ministers, Members of Parliament, Members of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council, academicians, healthcare professionals, public representatives and members of the KLE fraternity.
Integrated academic medical campus
The medical college and hospital have been established under the aegis of the Karnatak Lingayat Education (KLE) Society and function as constituent institutions of KAHER, Belagavi.
KAHER, established in 2006, has emerged as a major centre for health sciences education, research and healthcare. Its medical education and healthcare ecosystem in Belagavi, anchored by the KLE Medical College and the 2,400-bed KLES Dr. Prabhakar Kore Hospital & Medical Research Centre, has made a significant contribution to healthcare and medical education.
The development of the Gabbur campus marks an expansion of this academic and healthcare ecosystem to Hubballi.
Built on land donated by Jagadguru Gangadhar Mahaswamigalu of Moorusavirmath, the integrated campus is spread across 50 acres, with a built-up area of more than 30 lakh square feet. The project has involved an investment of approximately ₹700 crore.
The campus has been designed as an integrated academic medical centre bringing together medical education, advanced clinical care, research, technology and community service.
MBBS intake increased to 250 seats
JGMM Medical College received approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC) in October 2021 with an initial annual intake of 150 MBBS students. The first batch was admitted in February 2022.
The annual MBBS intake was increased to 200 seats in 2025-26 and has now been enhanced to 250 seats from the 2026-27 academic year.
The institution is also set to commence postgraduate programmes across 20 departments from the next academic year.
The college currently has five batches comprising approximately 800 MBBS students. It has developed modern infrastructure including lecture theatres, simulation laboratories, museums, advanced research facilities, a central library and student hostels.
Research and innovation are also being given significant importance. Faculty members have secured competitive research grants, including an ICMR research grant of ₹1.4 crore, while students are participating in ICMR Short-Term Studentship and KAHER-funded research projects.
1,200-bed multi-specialty and super-specialty hospital
The KLE Hospital & Medical Research Centre commenced services on January 1, 2025. Developed as a 1,200-bed multi-specialty and super-specialty tertiary-care teaching hospital, it is aimed at providing comprehensive and advanced healthcare to people from North Karnataka and neighbouring regions.
The hospital is equipped with modern operation theatres, intensive care units, emergency and trauma care facilities, advanced laboratories, radiology and sophisticated diagnostic services.
Major specialties currently available include General Medicine, General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Pulmonology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, Emergency Medicine and ENT.
Super-specialty services include Neurology, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology, Nephrology, Urology and Endocrinology. Services in Cardiology, Oncology and Organ Transplantation are expected to be introduced shortly.
As the teaching hospital of JGMM Medical College, KLE HMRC will provide students with clinical exposure in a comprehensive tertiary and super-specialty healthcare environment while integrating patient care, medical education and biomedical research.
Healthcare with social commitment
Community service continues to be an important part of the institution’s philosophy. The Medical College and Hospital have undertaken free health camps, rural and specialty outreach programmes, preventive healthcare initiatives and community health activities.
The hospital provides free and subsidised treatment to economically disadvantaged patients. Nutritious meals are also provided free of cost to admitted patients.
The institution facilitates treatment under various government healthcare and insurance schemes, including Ayushman Bharat–Arogya Karnataka (AB-ArK) and the Karnataka Arogya Sanjeevini Scheme, subject to eligibility and approved packages.
The new campus is expected to further strengthen KLE Society’s long-standing contribution to education and healthcare and KAHER’s role as a major health sciences university.

हुबळी : उत्तर कर्नाटकातील वैद्यकीय शिक्षण, अत्याधुनिक आरोग्यसेवा आणि वैद्यकीय संशोधनाला मोठी चालना देणाऱ्या केएलई जगद्गुरू गंगाधर महास्वामी मूरुसाविरमठ वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालयाच्या (JGMMMC) नव्या शैक्षणिक इमारतीचे तसेच १२०० खाटांच्या केएलई हॉस्पिटल अँड मेडिकल रिसर्च सेंटरचे (KLE HMRC) शनिवारी, १९ सप्टेंबर २०२६ रोजी लोकार्पण करण्यात येणार आहे.

५० एकरांवर साकारलेला एकात्मिक वैद्यकीय कॅम्पस
कर्नाटक लिंगायत एज्युकेशन (केएलई) सोसायटीच्या माध्यमातून उभारण्यात आलेले हे वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालय व रुग्णालय केएएचईआर, बेळगावीच्या घटक संस्था म्हणून कार्यरत आहेत.
सन २००६ मध्ये स्थापन झालेल्या केएएचईआरने आरोग्य विज्ञान शिक्षण, संशोधन आणि आरोग्यसेवेच्या क्षेत्रात महत्त्वाचे स्थान निर्माण केले आहे. बेळगावी येथील केएलई वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालय आणि २,४०० खाटांच्या केएलईएस डॉ. प्रभाकर कोरे हॉस्पिटल अँड मेडिकल रिसर्च सेंटरच्या माध्यमातून वैद्यकीय शिक्षण व अत्याधुनिक आरोग्यसेवेत महत्त्वपूर्ण योगदान दिले जात आहे.
याच आरोग्य व शैक्षणिक व्यवस्थेचा विस्तार म्हणून हुबळीतील गब्बूर कॅम्पस विकसित करण्यात आला आहे.
मूरुसाविरमठचे जगद्गुरू गंगाधर महास्वामी यांनी दिलेल्या जमिनीवर उभारलेला हा कॅम्पस ५० एकर क्षेत्रात पसरलेला असून, येथे ३० लाख चौरस फुटांहून अधिक बांधकाम क्षेत्र आहे. या प्रकल्पासाठी सुमारे ₹७०० कोटींची गुंतवणूक करण्यात आली आहे.
वैद्यकीय शिक्षण, अत्याधुनिक उपचार, संशोधन, तंत्रज्ञान आणि समाजसेवा यांचा समन्वय साधणारे एकात्मिक वैद्यकीय केंद्र म्हणून या कॅम्पसची रचना करण्यात आली आहे.
एमबीबीएसच्या २५० जागा
JGMM वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालयाला राष्ट्रीय वैद्यकीय आयोगाकडून (NMC) ऑक्टोबर २०२१ मध्ये मान्यता मिळाली. सुरुवातीला दरवर्षी १५० एमबीबीएस विद्यार्थ्यांना प्रवेश देण्याची क्षमता होती. फेब्रुवारी २०२२ मध्ये पहिली बॅच सुरू झाली.
२०२५-२६ या शैक्षणिक वर्षात एमबीबीएसच्या जागांची संख्या २०० करण्यात आली. आता २०२६-२७ पासून ही संख्या २५० जागांपर्यंत वाढविण्यात आली आहे.
पुढील शैक्षणिक वर्षापासून २० विभागांमध्ये पदव्युत्तर वैद्यकीय अभ्यासक्रम सुरू करण्याची तयारी करण्यात आली आहे.
सध्या महाविद्यालयात पाच बॅचमध्ये सुमारे ८०० एमबीबीएस विद्यार्थी शिक्षण घेत आहेत. आधुनिक लेक्चर थिएटर्स, सिम्युलेशन लॅबोरेटरीज, म्युझियम, संशोधन सुविधा, केंद्रीय ग्रंथालय आणि विद्यार्थी वसतिगृहांसह अत्याधुनिक पायाभूत सुविधा येथे उपलब्ध आहेत.
संशोधन आणि नवोपक्रमालाही महत्त्व देण्यात येत असून, प्राध्यापकांना ₹१.४ कोटींचे ICMR संशोधन अनुदान मिळाले आहे. विद्यार्थी ICMR Short-Term Studentship तसेच KAHERच्या संशोधन प्रकल्पांमध्ये सहभागी होत आहेत.
१२०० खाटांचे अत्याधुनिक रुग्णालय
KLE Hospital & Medical Research Centre ने १ जानेवारी २०२५ रोजी सेवा सुरू केली. हे १२०० खाटांचे मल्टिस्पेशालिटी व सुपरस्पेशालिटी तृतीयस्तरीय शिक्षण रुग्णालय म्हणून विकसित करण्यात आले आहे.
उत्तर कर्नाटक आणि शेजारील भागातील नागरिकांना अत्याधुनिक व सर्वसमावेशक आरोग्यसेवा उपलब्ध करून देण्याचा या रुग्णालयाचा उद्देश आहे.
आधुनिक ऑपरेशन थिएटर्स, अतिदक्षता विभाग, आपत्कालीन व ट्रॉमा केअर, अत्याधुनिक प्रयोगशाळा, रेडिओलॉजी आणि विविध निदान सुविधा येथे उपलब्ध आहेत.
जनरल मेडिसिन, जनरल सर्जरी, ऑर्थोपेडिक्स, पल्मोनोलॉजी, प्रसूती व स्त्रीरोग, बालरोग, नेत्ररोग, आपत्कालीन वैद्यकीय सेवा आणि ENT यांसारख्या प्रमुख विभागांमध्ये उपचार उपलब्ध आहेत.
सुपरस्पेशालिटी सेवांमध्ये न्यूरोलॉजी, न्यूरोसर्जरी, गॅस्ट्रोएन्टेरोलॉजी, नेफ्रोलॉजी, युरोलॉजी आणि एंडोक्रायनोलॉजी यांचा समावेश आहे. लवकरच कार्डिओलॉजी, ऑन्कोलॉजी आणि अवयव प्रत्यारोपण सेवा सुरू करण्याचे नियोजन आहे.
आर्थिकदृष्ट्या दुर्बल रुग्णांना मोफत व सवलतीच्या दरात उपचार
समाजसेवा ही संस्थेच्या कार्याची महत्त्वाची बाजू असून, वैद्यकीय महाविद्यालय आणि रुग्णालयाच्या माध्यमातून मोफत आरोग्य शिबिरे, ग्रामीण आरोग्य सेवा, विशेष वैद्यकीय शिबिरे, प्रतिबंधात्मक आरोग्य उपक्रम आणि समुदाय आरोग्य कार्यक्रम राबविण्यात येतात.
आर्थिकदृष्ट्या दुर्बल रुग्णांना मोफत तसेच सवलतीच्या दरात उपचार उपलब्ध करून दिले जातात. रुग्णालयात दाखल असलेल्या रुग्णांना पौष्टिक आहारही मोफत देण्यात येतो.
याशिवाय पात्र लाभार्थ्यांना आयुष्मान भारत–आरोग्य कर्नाटक (AB-ArK), कर्नाटक आरोग्य संजीवनी योजना यांसह विविध सरकारी आरोग्य व विमा योजनांच्या माध्यमातून उपचार सुविधा उपलब्ध करून देण्यात येतात.
हुबळीतील हा नवीन कॅम्पस केएलई सोसायटीच्या शिक्षण व आरोग्य क्षेत्रातील दीर्घ परंपरेतील महत्त्वाचा टप्पा मानला जात आहे. उत्तर कर्नाटकातील नागरिकांना आधुनिक आरोग्यसेवा, वैद्यकीय शिक्षण आणि वैद्यकीय संशोधनाच्या अधिक सुविधा उपलब्ध करून देण्याच्या दृष्टीने या प्रकल्पाचे महत्त्व अधोरेखित करण्यात आले आहे.
१९ सप्टेंबर रोजी केंद्रीय गृहमंत्री अमित शहा यांच्या हस्ते होणाऱ्या लोकार्पणामुळे हुबळीतील या वैद्यकीय कॅम्पसच्या नव्या पर्वाला सुरुवात होणार असून, उत्तर कर्नाटकातील वैद्यकीय शिक्षण, अत्याधुनिक आरोग्यसेवा आणि जैववैद्यकीय संशोधनाला यामुळे आणखी चालना मिळण्याची अपेक्षा आहे.
