Dr.M.V.Jali

Globally COVID-19 is wreaking havoc, over 190 countries are engulfed in the COVID-19 pandemic and citizens are forced to stay indoors due to lock-down. Governments across the globe are doing their best to protect their citizens it is also bounded duty of the citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies.

Alert Diabetics: The diabetics need to take extra protections, precautions in this hour of medical crisis. Usually diabetics are immuno-compromised and are exposed to higher risk compared to others. Diabetics are advised to closely monitor their blood sugar levels. They must remain calm and not to yield to undue anxiety or tensions. Try to keep your HbA1C (<7) and you will have better immunity to fight the disease.

Avoid visiting hospital and try to call your physician and share your reports and follow the instructions of your doctor. I also advise all the diabetics to involve in regular exercise regimen, mediation,  and yoga can keep your sugar levels well under control. Further, maintain a social distancing, wash your hands for minimum 20 secs and also maintain high standards of hygiene and take care of your health by taking nutritious food. Do not lend your ears for falls rumours and all that appears in social media may not be true. Be well informed, positive, engage in a discussion with family members and develop strong will power. Avoid over eating and regularly monitor sugar levels and if found variations please call your doctor and follow his/her instructions.

Stay home Stay safe: Never ever assume lockdown is a punitive action by government. Contrary to that develop creative hobbies which infuse positivity in you and your family members. You can help your spouse in household chores, listening to classical music, reading philosophical, spiritual books, engaging in positive conversation with family members, calling a friend/relative, engaging in indoor activities like carom, chess, etc, light diet without sugar, feel good and enjoy every moment and create productive and positive environment in the family which will make the things better to beat the COVID-19. “STAY HOME-STAY SAFE”
