*Mangesh Motors opens Maruti Suzuki Arena showroom in Belagavi today*
Pragativahini News/ Belagavi : Mangesh Motors, one of Belagavi’s established automobile dealership groups, inaugurated its new Maruti Suzuki Arena showroom at Devrajya on Khanapur Road, Belagavi, on Monday, marking a new chapter in the Deshpande family’s four-generation automobile business.
The showroom was inaugurated by Padma Shri Dr. Prabhakar Kore, former Chairman of KLE Society and former Rajya Sabha member. Industrialist and automobile component manufacturer Ram Bhandare and Dr. Sachin Sabnis, Managing Director of Belgaum Ferrocast India Pvt. Ltd. and Independent Director on the IRCTC Board, attended the event as Guests of Honour.
Rohit Deshpande, Neeta Deshpande and Kapil Deshpande briefed the media at a press conference held in connection with the inauguration.
Four generations of automobile legacy
The Deshpande family’s journey in the automobile trade began with G.C. Deshpande, who imported Chrysler and General Motors cars into the region at a time when cars were a rarity. The next generation, led by Rajabhau Deshpande and his brothers, expanded the business through Lambretta scooters, Suvega mopeds and Standard cars.
In 1990, Rohit Deshpande entered the two-wheeler dealership business with Kinetic Honda. In 2002, Mangesh Honda became one of the early Honda two-wheeler dealerships in India. The dealership is completing 25 years of association with Honda in Belagavi this year. The family subsequently ventured into the Honda Cars dealership business in 2015.
With the launch of the Maruti Suzuki Arena dealership in 2026, Kapil Deshpande represents the fourth generation of the family to join the automobile business.
Over the past 35 years, more than 2.5 lakh vehicles from the Mangesh Motors group have reached customers in Belagavi and neighbouring regions, according to the company.
A new milestone in Belagavi’s automobile market
Maruti Suzuki, one of India’s leading passenger vehicle manufacturers, offers a wide range of cars through its Arena network. With the new showroom, Mangesh Motors aims to strengthen the brand’s presence in Belagavi and increase its market share in the region.
Recalling his early days in the business, Rohit Deshpande, Managing Director of Mangesh Motors, said he was fresh out of college when his father handed him the keys to the family’s petrol pump 42 years ago.
“In those days, I would ask my staff to give special treatment to every Maruti 800 that came in to refuel. I never imagined that one day I would be selling that same car in a new avatar. Belagavi has trusted our family for four decades, and this showroom is our way of serving the city better,” he said.
Kapil Deshpande said automobiles had always been about people and not merely machines for his family.
“I am proud to carry this legacy into its fourth generation with a brand that Indian families love and trust,” he said.
Expanding customer services
The new Maruti Suzuki Arena showroom adds another milestone to the Mangesh Motors group’s presence in Belagavi’s automobile sector. The group operates Mangesh Honda, its Honda two-wheeler dealership, and a Honda Cars dealership, besides its new Maruti Suzuki Arena outlet.
The launch is expected to provide customers in Belagavi and surrounding areas with another option for exploring Maruti Suzuki’s Arena range of cars and related dealership services.
