ಪ್ರಗತಿವಾಹಿನಿ ಸುದ್ದಿ: ನೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಹೃದಯವಂತಿಕೆಯ ಸ್ಪರ್ಶ ಸಿಕ್ಕಾಗ ಅದ್ಭುತ ಫೋಟೋ ಜರ್ನಲಿಸ್ಟ್ ಹುಟ್ಟುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಆತ ಆ ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ತೆಗೆದ ಚಿತ್ರ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಮುಖ್ಯಮಂತ್ರಿಗಳ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಸಲಹೆಗಾರರಾದ ಕೆ.ವಿ.ಪ್ರಭಾಕರ್ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯಪಟ್ಟರು.
ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಫೋಟೋ ಜರ್ನಲಿಸ್ಟ್ ಸಂಘ ಆಯೋಜಿಸಿದ್ದ “ವಿಶ್ವ ಛಾಯಾಗ್ರಾಹಕ ದಿನ”ವನ್ನು ಉದ್ಘಾಟಿಸಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು.
ಮಗು ಮಾತಾಡುವುದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಮೊದಲು ನೋಟದಿಂದಲೇ ಜಗತ್ತನ್ನು ಗ್ರಹಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ನೋಟಕ್ಕೆ ಭಾಷೆಯ, ಪದಗಳ, ವಾಖ್ಯಗಳ ಹಂಗಿಲ್ಲ. ಪ್ರೀತಿ, ಪ್ರೇಮದ ಅಂಕುರ ಆಗೋದು ನೋಟದಿಂದಲೇ ಹೊರತು, ಮಾತಿನಿಂದಲ್ಲ. ಅದಕ್ಕೇ “Love at First Sight” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳೋದು. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಫೋಟೋ ಜರ್ನಲಿಸ್ಟ್ ಗಳಿಗೆ ನೋಟ, ಒಳನೋಟ ಬಹಳ ಮುಖ್ಯ ಎಂದರು.
ಫೋಟೋ ಜರ್ನಲಿಸ್ಟ್ ಗಳೇ ಸಂಘಟಿಸಿರುವ ಇವತ್ತಿನ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ ನನಗೆ ಕೆವಿನ್ ಕಾರ್ಟರ್ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಗೊಳ್ಳಿಯ ಸಂಗವ್ವ ಇಬ್ಬರೂ “ಫೋಟೋ ಜರ್ನಲಿಸಂನ ದೃಶ್ಯ ಪಠ್ಯಗಳು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲು ಇಚ್ಚಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
ಆಫ್ರಿಕಾದ ಫೋಟೋ ಜರ್ನಲಿಸ್ಟ್ ತೆಗೆದ ಒಂದು ಫೋಟೋ ಇವತ್ತಿಗೂ ತೀವ್ರ ಚರ್ಚೆಯ ಸಂಗತಿಯಾಗಿಯೇ ಉಳಿದಿದೆ.
ಯುದ್ಧ ಸಂತ್ರಸ್ಥ ಸುಡಾನ್ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ತೆಗೆದ ಫೋಟೋ ಅದು. ಗಂಜಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರಕ್ಕೆ ತೆವಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಒಂದು ಮಗು ಹಸಿವಿನಿಂದ ನೆಲಕ್ಕೇ ತಲೆಕೊಟ್ಟು ನಿತ್ರಾಣಗೊಂಡಿದೆ. ಅಲ್ಲೇ ಒಂದು ರಣಹದ್ದು ಮಗುವನ್ನೇ ತಿನ್ನಲು ಹೊಂಚು ಹಾಕಿ ಕುಳಿತಿದೆ. ಈ ಫೋಟೋಗೆ 1994 ರಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶ್ವಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಪುಲಿಟ್ಜರ್ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಬಂತು. ಆದರೆ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ಪಡೆದ ಕೆವಿನ್ ಕಾರ್ಟರ್ ಮೂರು ತಿಂಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಳುಕಿನಿಂದ ಆತ್ಮಹತ್ಯೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಇದು ಪತ್ರಿಕಾ ವೃತ್ತಿಯ ಚರಿತ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅಳಿಸಲಾಗದ ಒಂದು ಪಠ್ಯ.
ಕೆವಿನ್ ತೆಗೆದ ಒಂದು ಫೋಟೋ ಹುಟ್ಟಿಸಿದ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳು ಆತನನ್ನು ಆತ್ಮಹತ್ಯೆಗೆ ದೂಡಿದರೆ, ಅದೊಂದು ಫೋಟೋದ ಮೇಲೆ ನೂರಾರು ಭಾಷೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೋಟಿಗಟ್ಟಲೆ ಪದಗಳು, ವಾಕ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಚರ್ಚೆ ನಡೆಯಿತು. ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ನೋಟವೇ ಒಂದು ಭಾಷೆ. ಇದು ವಿಶ್ವ ಭಾಷೆಯಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಕೆ.ವಿ.ಪ್ರಭಾಕರ್ ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು.
ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಒಂದೂ ಮಾತು, ಒಂದೇ ಒಂದು ಪದದ ಸಹವಾಸವಿಲ್ಲದೆ ಸಂಗೊಳ್ಳಿಯ ಸಂಗವ್ವ ವಿಶ್ವಕ್ಕೇ ಪರಿಚಯವಾದರು. ಸರ್ಕಾರ ಉಚಿತ ಬಸ್ ಪ್ರಯಾಣದ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಯೋಜನೆ ಘೋಷಿಸಿದಾಗ ಕುಹಕ, ಅಣಕ, ಟೀಕೆ, ವಿಮರ್ಷೆಗಳ ಮಹಾಪೂರವೇ ಹರಿಯುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ, ಉಚಿತ ಬಸ್ ಹತ್ತುವಾಗ ಬೆಳಗಾವಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಸಂಗೊಳ್ಳಿಯ ಸಂಗವ್ವ ಸರ್ಕಾರಿ ಬಸ್ ನ ಮೆಟ್ಟಿಲುಗಳಿಗೆ ನಮಸ್ಕರಿಸಿದ ಒಂದು ಫೋಟೋ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕುಹಕ, ಅಣಕಗಳನ್ನು ಅಳಿಸಿಹಾಕಿತು. 24 ಗಂಟೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಗವ್ವ ಸೋಷಿಯಲ್ ಮೀಡಿಯಾದ ಸೆನ್ಸೇಷನ್ ಆಗಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು.
ಹೀಗಾಗಿ ಕೆವಿನ್ ಕಾರ್ಟರ್ ಮತ್ತು ಸಂಗೊಳ್ಳಿಯ ಸಂಗವ್ವ ಫೋಟೋ ಜರ್ನಲಿಸಂನ ಎರಡು ಪಠ್ಯಗಳು ಎಂದು ನಾನು ಭಾವಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
ವರದಿಗಳು, ಮಾತುಗಳು, ಪದಗಳು ಸುಳ್ಳು ಹೇಳಬಹುದು ಅಥವಾ ಸತ್ಯವನ್ನು ತಿರುಚಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ, ಫೋಟೋಗಳು, ನೋಟಗಳು ಸುಳ್ಳು ಹೇಳುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ನಾವು ಬರೆಯುವ ಸುದ್ದಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸತ್ಯದ ಮೊಹರೆ ಒತ್ತುವುದು ಫೋಟೋಗಳು ಎಂದರು.
ಫೋಟೋಗ್ರಫಿ ಪತ್ರಿಕೋದ್ಯಮದ ಅವಿಭಾಜ್ಯ ಅಂಗ. ಫೋಟೋಗಳು ಘಟನೆಯ ನೈಜ ಚಿತ್ರಣವನ್ನು ಓದುಗರ ಗ್ರಹಿಕೆಗೆ ಒದಗಿಸುತ್ತವೆ.
ಆಧುನಿಕ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಫೋಟೋಗ್ರಫಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನಮೌಲ್ಯತಂದುಕೊಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಕೃತಕ ಬುದ್ದಿಮತ್ತೆ ಒಂದು ಸವಾಲು ಮತ್ತು ಅವಕಾಶವೂ ಹೌದು. ಯಾವುದೇ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಬಂದರೂ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಸ್ವಂತ ಕಾಲ್ಪನಿಕ ಶಕ್ತಿ ಇರುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಎಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೂ ಫೋಟೋ ಜರ್ನಲಿಸ್ಟ್ ಗಳ ಕಲ್ಪನಾ ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ ಸೃಜನಶೀಲ ಮತ್ತು ಶ್ರೀಮಂತ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಹೃದಯತೆಯಿಂದ ಕೂಡಿರುತ್ತದೋ ಅಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೂ ಯಾವ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನವೂ ಅಪಾಯ ಒಡ್ಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ ಎಂದು ವಿವರಿಸಿದರು.
ಸುಮಾರು 20 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಫೋಟೋಗ್ರಫಿ ಈಗಿನಷ್ಟು ಸರಾಗ ಮತ್ತು ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ ಬಹಳ ಕಷ್ಟ ಪಡಬೇಕಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಆದರೆ ಬದಲಾದ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದಾಗಿ ಫೋಟೋಗ್ರಫಿ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಸುಲಭವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಸೃಜನಶೀಲತೆ ರೂಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಫೋಟೋಗಳ ಮೂಲಕವೇ ಅರ್ಥಪೂರ್ಣ ಸ್ಟೋರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸುವ ಶಕ್ತಿ -ಸಾಮರ್ಥ್ಯ ರೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಈಗಿನ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಾಜಗತ್ತಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿಯಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯ ಎಂದರು.
ಇವತ್ತಿಗೂ ಗ್ರಾಮೀಣ ಮತ್ತು ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕು ಮಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುದ್ದಿ ಬರೆಯುವ ವರದಿಗಾರರಿಗಿಂತ ಫೋಟೋಗ್ರಾಫರ್ ಗಳಿಗೇ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಬೇಡಿಕೆ ಇದೆ. ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳ ಉದ್ಘಾಟನೆಯ ಒಂದು ಫೋಟೋ ಬಂದರೆ ಸಾಕು ಎಂದು ರಾಜಕಾರಣಿಗಳು ಕಾತರಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಯಾವುದೇ ಭಾಷೆಯವರಿಗಾದರೂ, ಅನಕ್ಷರಸ್ಥರಿಗೂ ಕೂಡ ಫೋಟೋ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಂವಹನ ನಡೆಸಬಹುದಾದ ಸಾಧ್ಯತೆಯೇ ಫೋಟೋ ಜರ್ನಲಿಸ್ಟ್ ಗಳ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದೆ.
ಒಂದು ವರದಿಯನ್ನು ಸಂಪಾದಕರು ತೆಗೆದು ಪಕ್ಕಕ್ಕಿಡಬಹುದು. ಆದರೆ ಉತ್ತಮವಾದ ಒಂದು ಫೋಟೋವನ್ನು ಯಾರೂ ಪಕ್ಕಕ್ಕಿಡುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಪತ್ರಿಕೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಲಭ್ಯವಿರುವ ಸ್ಪೇಸ್ ಅನ್ನು ಸಮರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ಸದುಪಯೋಗಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ ಎಂದು ಕೆವಿಪಿ ಕರೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.

A great photojournalist is born when looks touch the heart. The picture he takes at that moment will become history, opined K.V.Prabhakar, media advisor to the Chief Minister.
He was speaking while inaugurating the “World Photographer Day” organized by the Bangalore Photojournalist Association.
A child understands the world through looks before he speaks. Looks have no connection with language, words, or sentences. Love born through looks, not words. That is why it is called “Love at First Sight”. That is why he said that vision and insight are very important for photojournalists.
In today’s program organized by photojournalists, I would like to say that Kevin Carter and Sangolli Sangvva are both “visual texts of photojournalism”.
A photo taken by an African photojournalist remains a subject of intense debate even today.
It was a photo taken in the war-torn country of Sudan. A child crawling to a porridge center is exhausted from hunger, with his head on the ground. There, a vulture is waiting to eat the child. This photo won the world’s best Pulitzer Prize in 1994. However, Kevin Carter, who received the award, committed suicide in tears three months later. This is an indelible text in the history of journalism.
If the questions raised by a photo taken by Kevin drove him to suicide, then that photo was the subject of a discussion in hundreds of languages, in crores of words and sentences. Thus, a look is a language. It is a universal language, explained K.V. Prabhakar.
Similarly, Sangvva of Sangolli became known to the world without a single word. When the government announced the Shakti Yojana for free bus travel, there was a flood of jokes, mockery and criticism. However, a photo of Sangvva of Sangolli in Belagavi district bowing to the steps of a government bus while boarding a free bus erased all the jokes and mockery. Sangvva became a social media sensation in 24 hours.
Thus, I think Kevin Carter and Sangvva of Sangolli are two texts of photojournalism.
Reports, words can lie or distort the truth. But, photos, looks do not lie. He said that photos are the seal of truth for the news we write.
Photography is an integral part of journalism. Photos provide the reader with a realistic picture of the event.
Modern technology has given photography great value. Artificial intelligence is both a challenge and an opportunity. No technology comes without its own imaginative power. As long as the imagination of photojournalists is creative, rich and kind-hearted, no technology poses a threat.
About 20 years ago, photography was not as easy and simple as it is now, and one had to work very hard. But due to changing technology, photography is very easy, and only if one develops creativity and develops the power and ability to create meaningful stories through photos, one can survive in today’s competitive world, he said.
Even today, photographers are in greater demand than reporters who write news at the rural and taluk levels. Politicians are waiting for a photo of the inauguration of development works. The possibility of communicating through photos to people of any language, even to the illiterate, shows the importance of photojournalists.
An editor can remove a report and put it aside. But no one puts a good photo aside. Therefore, KVP called for making efficient use of the space available in newspapers.
