The adventure team of Southern Command won the prestigious Army Adventure Challenge Cup 2018 held from 12 Nov to 17 Nov 2018 at Raiwala near Rishikesh, Uttarakhand.
On this occasion, a felicitation ceremony for the team was organised at the Command Headquarters Pune on 24 Nov 2018. Lt Gen Manoj Pande, AVSM, VSM, Chief of Staff, Southern Command, felicitated and congratulated the entire team led by Captain Sanjaya Bishnoi and Lieutenant Hari Prasada on the victory. The coveted triathlon comprised of mountain terrain cycling, hill running and white water rafting race of a total distance of 41 Kms. It was an open national event in which a total of eleven teams representing all the Army Commands, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, Coast Guard, BSF and ITBP participated vying for the coveted trophy.
Army Adventure Challenge Cup is a prestigious competition which is organized once in every two years by Army Adventure Wing with a view to promote the spirit of adventure in the armed forces. It is the ultimate test of the endurance, speed, skill, mental resolve and determination of the top adventure athletes of the defence services and para military forces.
Maratha LIRC,Belgaum made responsible for trg this team under the aegis of Southern Command led by Captain Sanjaya Bishnoi and Havildar D R Ravi lifted the Army Adventure Challenge Cup 2018. The team also won the prize for ‘Best Rafting Team’ in the competition. Team leader Captain Sanjaya Bishnoi also bagged the prize of ‘Best Officer Cyclist’ and Nk Santosh Lamani and Nk J Pothanna received second and third prizes for overall best performance in mountain terrain cycling event.
