World AID’s Day celebrated at Shaikh college

Pragativahini News, Belagavi – A.M.Shaikh Homeopathic Medical College, PG & Research Centre and Shaikh PU College celebrated World AID’s Day in the college premises.

The day was celebrated to create awareness about AIDs- a dreadful disease among the people in the community.

The dignitaries present during the event were Dr. C.M. Moogi, Principal, A.M. Shaikh Homeopathic Medical College and Mr. Ramesh Godse, Principal, Shaikh PU College.

Addressing the gathering Dr. Moogi said that, it is an opportunity for every community to unit in the fight against HIV, show support for the people living with HIV and remember those who died.

He further interacted with the students and emphasized on HIV transmission, staging, stigma, prevention and treatment. He explained about different aspects of HIV/AIDs and highlighted the significance of role of youth in making a change in the society.

He further said that World AIDs Day is a global initiative to raise awareness fight prejudice and improve education about HIV.

Dr. Jyothi Vijaykumar addressing the PU students explained about various ways of how a youth can protect the society through awareness and prevention.

A number of activities were organized to make significance of maintaining good health and also for cause and prevention of AIDs. The event was then followed by power point presentation on AIDs annual theme “Ending the HIV/AIDs Epidemic: Community by Community”.

Dr. Fausia Ansari also presented an article on “Community makes the difference”.

Earlier AIDS awareness rally was taken out from the College premises. Students of A.M Shaikh Homeopathic Medical College and Shaikh PU College took part in the rally which moved on main thorough fares. The event was coordinated by Dr. Kiran Patil.
