*ಹಲಶಿ ವಾಡಾದಲ್ಲಿ 15 ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ಕೆರೆಗಳ ಪುನಶ್ಚೇತನ: ಪ್ಯಾಸ್ ಫೌಂಡೇಶನ್ನ ಜಲ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣಾ ಸಾಧನೆ*
ಪ್ರಗತಿವಾಹಿನಿ ಸುದ್ದಿ: ನೀರಿನ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಪರಿಸರ ಸತತತೆಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿರುವ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಸ್ವಯಂಸೇವಾ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯಾದ Pyaas Foundation ಖಾನಾಪುರ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಹಲಶಿ ವಾಡಾ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ಕೆರೆಗಳ ಪುನಶ್ಚೇತನ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿಯನ್ನು ಕೇವಲ 15 ದಿನಗಳ ದಾಖಲೆಯ ಅವಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ಪೂರ್ಣಗೊಳಿಸಿದೆ.
ಈ ಯೋಜನೆಗೆ AKP Ferrocast ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯ CSR ಸಹಕಾರ ದೊರೆತಿದ್ದು, ಇದರ ಮೂಲಕ ಈ ಭಾಗದ ಜಲ ಭದ್ರತೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಕೃಷಿ ಆಧಾರಿತ ಆರ್ಥಿಕತೆಗೆ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಬಲ ಸಿಗಲಿದೆ ಎಂಬ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ವ್ಯಕ್ತವಾಗಿದೆ.
ಪುನಶ್ಚೇತನಗೊಂಡಿರುವ ಈ ಎರಡು ಕೆರೆಗಳು ಒಟ್ಟಾರೆ ಸುಮಾರು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಏಕರೆ ಪ್ರದೇಶವನ್ನು ವ್ಯಾಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದು, ವೈಜ್ಞಾನಿಕ ರೀತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಳು ತೆಗೆಯುವ ಹಾಗೂ ಪುನರ್ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ ಕಾರ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿದೆ.
ಜೊತೆಗೆ, ಕೆರೆಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳಿಗಾಗಿ ವಿಶೇಷ ದ್ವೀಪವೊಂದನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಇದು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಹಾಗೂ ವಲಸೆ ಪಕ್ಷಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಸುರಕ್ಷಿತ ಆಶ್ರಯ ಒದಗಿಸಿ ಜೀವ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯತೆಯನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶ ಹೊಂದಿದೆ.
ಈ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ತೀವ್ರ ಬೇಸಿಗೆ ಪರಿಸ್ಥಿತಿ ಇದ್ದರೂ, ಈ ಎರಡೂ ಕೆರೆಗಳಿಗೆ ನೈಸರ್ಗಿಕ ನೀರು ಹರಿದು ಬರುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಪರಿಸರ ಮಹತ್ವ ಹಾಗೂ ದೀರ್ಘಕಾಲೀನ ಸತತತೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಪಷ್ಟಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ.
ಯೋಜನೆಯ ಅಂಗವಾಗಿ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಬಾವಿಯ ಹೂಳು ತೆಗೆಯುವ ಮತ್ತು ಪುನಶ್ಚೇತನ ಕಾಮಗಾರಿಯನ್ನೂ ಕೈಗೊಳ್ಳಲಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಇದರಿಂದ ಭೂಗರ್ಭ ಜಲಮಟ್ಟ ಹೆಚ್ಚಳ, ಕುಡಿಯುವ ನೀರಿನ ಲಭ್ಯತೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಜಾನುವಾರುಗಳಿಗೆ ನೀರಿನ ಸೌಲಭ್ಯ ಸುಧಾರಣೆಯಾಗಲಿದೆ.
ಬೆಳಗಾವಿ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಹಲಶಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಸಮೀಪ ಇರುವ ಹಲಶಿ ವಾಡಾ ಗ್ರಾಮವು ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಮಹತ್ವ ಹೊಂದಿದೆ. ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಆಡಳಿತದಲ್ಲಿ ಕನ್ನಡ ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನು ಬಳಸಿದ ಮೊದಲ ರಾಜವಂಶವೆಂದು ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವ ಕದಂಬ ವಂಶದೊಂದಿಗೆ ಹಲಶಿಗೆ ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ನಂಟಿದೆ. ಇಂದಿಗೂ ಈ ಪ್ರದೇಶ ತನ್ನ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತ ಪರಂಪರೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಕೃಷಿ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಜೀವನಶೈಲಿಗಾಗಿ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿದೆ.
2011ರ ಜನಗಣತಿ ಮಾಹಿತಿಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ, ಖಾನಾಪುರ ತಾಲೂಕಿನ ಹಲಶಿ ಗ್ರಾಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಾರು 4,073 ಜನರು 928 ಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಕೃಷಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಪಶುಸಂಗೋಪನೆ ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಜೀವನೋಪಾಯವಾಗಿದೆ.
ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮದ ಸಮಾರೋಪದಲ್ಲಿ Pyaas Foundation ಸದಸ್ಯರು, ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರು ಹಾಗೂ AKP Ferrocast ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳು ಉತ್ಸಾಹದಿಂದ ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಿದರು. ಪುನಶ್ಚೇತನಗೊಂಡ ಕೆರೆಗಳು ಕೃಷಿ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆ, ಜಾನುವಾರುಗಳ ನೀರಿನ ಅಗತ್ಯ, ಭೂಗರ್ಭ ಜಲಮಟ್ಟ ಹೆಚ್ಚಳ ಹಾಗೂ ಪರಿಸರ ಪುನರುಜ್ಜೀವನಕ್ಕೆ ಜೀವನಾಡಿಯಾಗಲಿವೆ ಎಂದು ಗ್ರಾಮಸ್ಥರು ವಿಶ್ವಾಸ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಪಡಿಸಿದರು.
Pyaas Foundation, a leading voluntary organisation working in the field of water
conservation and environmental sustainability, has successfully completed the rejuvenation of two lakes at Halshi Wada village in Khanapur taluk in a record time of just 15 days. The project was undertaken with the CSR support of AKP Ferrocast and is expected to significantly strengthen the water security and agrarian economy of the region.
The two rejuvenated lakes together cover nearly four acres of land and have been scientifically desilted and restored. An island for birds has also been created within the lakes to encourage biodiversity and provide a safe habitat for local and migratory bird species. Despite the peak summer conditions prevailing across the region, both lakes continue to receive water from live natural springs, highlighting the long-term sustainability and ecological significance of the project.
As part of the initiative, desilting and restoration of a village well was also carried out to improve groundwater recharge and drinking water availability for local residents and livestock.
Halshi Wada, situated near the historic town of Halshi in Belagavi district, holds immense cultural and historical importance. Halshi was once associated with the Kadamba dynasty, regarded as the first ruling dynasty to use Kannada in administration in Karnataka’s history. The region continues to be known for its rich heritage and agrarian lifestyle.
According to Census 2011 data, Halshi village in Khanapur taluk has a population of approximately 4,073 residents living in about 928 households, with agriculture and livestock rearing forming the backbone of the local economy.
Members of Pyaas Foundation, local villagers, and representatives of AKP Ferrocast participated enthusiastically in the completion programme. Villagers expressed confidence that the rejuvenated lakes will become a lifeline for farming activities, cattle, groundwater recharge, and ecological restoration in the area.
