Pragativahini News, Karwar
The nomination papers filed by Shiv Sena candidate Krishnaji Patil alias KP Patil from Uttara Kannada parliamentary constituency has been rejected on technical grounds on Friday. Patil hails from Khanapur in Belagavi district which falls under the Uttara Kannada constituency.
District Returning Officer K. Harish kumar rejected it on the ground that the candidate had mentioned in his nomination papers that Shiv Sena is a regional party and had failed to obtain the signature of 10 proposers for his candidature. The rejection of nomination papers of Shiv Sena will boost the prospectus of BJP candidate Anant kumar Hegde as there was fear of division of votes among BJP and Shiva Sena.
After rejection of his nomination papers KP Patil held an urgent press meet in Karwar and said that there was conspiracy the rejection of his papers. He said that the check list provided to him by the district returning officer had not mentioned that there should be at least 10 proposers for the regional party. It had only mentioned that independents had to obtain the signature of 10 proposers. He said that the order of RO will be challenged in the high court. A D Nadaf and Ganapat Gawade were present.
Of total 17 nominations 2 have been rejected and the papers submitted by 15 candidates are found in order.
