Airmen Training School Belagavi organised a half marathon on
14 Apr 2019 to honor 100th Birthday of late Marshal of Indian Air Force,
Arjan Singh Distinguished Flying Cross.
Marshal of the Indian Air Force Arjan Singh, known for his professional competence, leadership and strategic vision, is a legend of the Indian Air Force. He was awarded the Padma Vibhusan for leading Indian Air Force during 1965 war. He was the first Air Chief Marshal of the Indian Air Force and also the one and only Marshal of the Indian Air Force. He continues to be a source of inspiration, wisdom and strength to the Indian Armed Forces.
Air Commodore R Ravishankar Vishisht Seva Medal, Air Officer Commanding, Airmen Training School, Belagavi flagged off the run at 6 am. More than 200 Air warriors participated in the event and negotiated winding roads of Sambra and its nearby villages. The Air Officer Commanding presented medals to the winners.
In his concluding address he remembered the visionary contributions of the Marshal of the Indian Air Force and emphasized on the importance of maintaining physical fitness. He appreciated the organizing committee for making the marathon a grand success.
Sachin came first in the championship with a timing of 01 hour 15 minutes and Deepak , Gajendar Singh were second and third respectively.
