North Karnataka has suffered assault after assault and especially Belagavi , we are not against our brothers in rest of Karnataka, but why are we given step motherly treatment despite being amongst the highest tax payers.We want to and actively contribute to the growth of Karnataka but are let down by the government. There are many instances.
1) Belagavi was declared as the second capital but the promise has still not materialized .There is absolutely no infrastructure development.
2) Belagavi being at the center of north Karnataka should have been the place for High Court bench which we were denied.Similarly the passport office which was given much later and is still slow in processing.
3) The KAT bench was given to us which took so many years to be established , even after set up it is still dysfunctional.
4) The special industrial zone was never given encouragement , the IT park was a disaster because of government apathy.Despite a high weaver population there is no textile park. Smart city funds are not being utilized because of center state differences.
5)Despite vocally supporting Mahadai issue no benefits of the water allocation has been made to the poor farmers of Belagavi.
6) Major parts of Belagavi are reeling under droughts but government support is almost negligible.
7) IIT , IIM , AIIMS should have been declared in Belagavi being convenient to entire north Karnataka , South Maharashtra and Goa , no such consideration had been given.
8) There had been no attempt to recognize the contribution of personalities and institutions of Belagavi to arts , education and social work.And despite the high standards of Institutes and industries UDAN was denied in first phase and even now process is slow.
9) It was promised that the Suvarna Soudha would be fully functional , but still no offices are fully functional , higher officers are reluctant to come to Belagavi and are enjoying comforts at Bengaluru.
10) This last assault is the apathy towards education of kannadigas in North Karnataka , Vishweshwarriah Technological University is being split to give extra in the budget to South KARNATAKA , similer arrangement was not done with Rajeev Gandhi University of health sciences , infact the regional center was closed down .The existing universities are starved for budgets.There is no proper NEET exam center for Belagavi , all promised funds are not being released.
Whole of North Karnataka is tired of this, especial the town of the Veerarani Chennamma and Karnataka Kesari Gangadhar Rao Deshpande that’s Belagavi. KARNATAKA government has to act immediately.
