*ಪದವಿ ಪಡೆಯುವುದು ಹೊಸ ಜೀವನ ಆರಂಭ ಇದ್ದಹಾಗೆ: ಡಾ. ವಿದ್ಯಾ ಯೆರವಡೆಕರ*
ಪ್ರಗತಿವಾಹಿನಿ ಸುದ್ದಿ: ತಾಯಿ ಜನ್ಮ ನೀಡಿದ ದಿನ ಅತ್ಯಂತ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅದರಂತೆ ನೀವು ಪದವಿ ಪಡೆಯುತ್ತಿರುವದು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಜನ್ಮ. ಹೊಸ ಜೀವನ ಆರಂಭವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿಯವರೆಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪಾಲಕರು, ಕುಟುಂಬ, ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು ಬೆಂಬಲಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ಇಂದಿನಿಂದ ನೀವು ಸಮಾಜದಲ್ಲಿ ವೈದ್ಯರು ಮತ್ತು ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ವೃತ್ತಿಪರರಾಗಿ ಹೊಸ ಜವಾಬ್ದಾರಿಗಳನ್ನು ನಿಭಾಯಿಸಬೇಕು. ಜಗತ್ತು ತುಂಬಾ ವಿಭಿನ್ನವಾಗಿದೆ. ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಮಾತ್ರ ಸಾಕಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಜಾಗತಿಕ ಬೆಳವಣಿಗೆಗಳು, ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ, ಸಮಾಜದ ಅಗತ್ಯತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಅರಿತುಕೊಂಡು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಬದ್ದತೆ ಹಾಗೂ ಕಳಕಳಿಯಿಂದ ಮುನ್ನಡೆಯಬೇಕೆಂದು ಪೂನೆಯ ಸಿಂಬಾಸಿಸ್ ಸೊಸಾಯಟಿಯ ಪ್ರನ್ಸಿಪಲ್ ಡೈರೆಕ್ಟರ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಿಂಬಾಸಿಸಿ ಇಂಟರನ್ಯಾಶನಲ್ ಯುನಿರ್ವಸಿಸಿಟಯ ಪ್ರೊ ಚಾನ್ಸಲರ್ ಡಾ. ವಿದ್ಯಾ ಯೆರವಡೆಕರ ಅವರಿಂದಿಲ್ಲಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಬೆಳಗಾವಿಯ ಕೆಎಲ್ಇ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿ ಆಫ್ ಹೈಯರ್ ಎಜುಕೇಶನ್ ಅಂಡ್ ರಿಸರ್ಚ್ (KAHER) (ಡೀಮ್ಡ್ ಟು ಬಿ ಯುನಿವರ್ಸಿಟಿ)ಯ ಇಂದು 16ನೇ ಘಟಿಕೋತ್ಸವದ ಭಾಷಣ ಮಾಡಿದ ಅವರು, ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನವು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಕೃತಕ ಬುದ್ಧಿಮತ್ತೆಯು ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಬದಲಾವಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾರ್ಪಡಿಸುತ್ತದೆ. ಹಳ್ಲೀಯಾಗಿರಲಿ, ದೊಡ್ಡ ನಗರವಾಗಿರಲಿ ನೂತನ ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನವನ್ನು ಅಳವಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ. ನಿರಂತರವಾಗಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಅಭ್ಯಸಿಸಿ. ತಂತ್ರಜ್ಞಾನ ಬಳಸುವಾಗ ರೋಗಿಯ ಕಡೆ ಆದ್ಯತೆ ಇರಲಿ. ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಸಂವಹನ ಕೌಶಲ್ಯಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ. ರೋಗಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಅವರ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ಆಲಿಸಿ, ರೋಗಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಔಷಧಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಅಗತ್ಯವಿರುವುದು ಅವರ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ಆಲಿಸುವದಾಗಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಸಲಹೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.
ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ವೃತ್ತಿಯು ಒಂದು ತಂಡವಾಗಿ ಕಾರ್ಯನಿರ್ವಹಿಸುವದಾಗಿದೆ. ಆದ್ದರಿಂದ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು, ಸಹೋದ್ಯೋಗಿಗಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತಮ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ. ದೇಶ ವಿದೇಶದ ವಿವಿಧ ಭಾಗಗಳ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರನ್ನು ಕಾಲೇಜಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದೀರಿ. ಈ ವೈವಿಧ್ಯತೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿತ್ವವನ್ನು ಶ್ರೀಮಂತಗೊಳಿಸುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದ ಅವರು, 12ನೇ ತರಗತಿಯ ಫಲಿತಾಂಶವೇ ನಮ್ಮ ಭವಿಷ್ಯವನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಧರಿಸುತ್ತಿತ್ತು. ಕಾಹೆರ ಕ್ಯಾಂಪಸ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆದಾಡಿದಾಗ, ಅದರ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲ, ಅದರ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯೂ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತವಾಗಿದೆ.. ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಂದು ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ಒಂದು ವಿಶಿಷ್ಟ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ವಾತಾವರಣ ಇದೆ. ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆ ನೀಡಿದ ಮೌಲ್ಯಗಳು, ನೈತಿಕತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಮೇಲೆ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆ ಇರಲಿ. ಆಲ್ಮಾ ಮೀಟರ್’ ಅನ್ನು ಮರೆಯಬೇಡಿ. ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾದಷ್ಟು ಕಲಿತ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗೆ ಮರಳಿ ಕೊಡುಗೆ ನೀಡಿ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಪಾಲಕರ ಪರಿಶ್ರಮವನ್ನು ಸದಾ ನೆನಪಿಡಿ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ರೂಪಿಸಿದ ಶಿಲ್ಪಿಗಳು. ಅವರಿಗೂ ಕೃತಜ್ಞರಾಗಿರಿ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಭವಿಷ್ಯ ಉಜ್ವಲವಾಗಿರಲಿ. ನೀವು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಶಸ್ಸನ್ನು ಸಾಧಿಸಲಿ. ಈ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯನ್ನು ಸದಾ ನೆನಪಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳಿ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ವಾರ್ಧಾ ಸವಾಂಗಿಯ ದತ್ತಾ ಮೆಘೆ ಇನ್ಸ್ಟಿಟ್ಯೂಟ್ ಆಫ್ ಹೈಯರ ಎಜ್ಯುಕೇಶನ್ ಆಂಡ ರಿಸರ್ಚನ ಉಪಕುಲಪತಿ ಡಾ. ಲಿಲಿತಭೂಷಣ ವಾಘ್ಮರೆ ಅವರು ಮಾತನಾಡಿ, ಸಾಧಕರು ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ಅನುಸರಿಸಬೇಕಾದ ಆದರ್ಶ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಗಳಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರಿಗೆ ಸಮಯವಿರುತ್ತದೆ, ಕೆಲವರಿಗೆ ಜ್ಞಾನ ಮತ್ತು ಮೌಲ್ಯವಿರುತ್ತದೆ, ಕೆಲವರು ಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಶೈಲಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ, ಮತ್ತಿತರರು ವೃತ್ತಿಪರತೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆದರೆ ಈ ಎಲ್ಲ ಗುಣಗಳ ಸಮನ್ವಯ ಒಂದೇ ವ್ಯಕ್ತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣುವುದು ಅಪರೂಪ ಎಂದ ಅವರು ಪಾಲಕರು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನದ ನಿಜವಾದ ಹೂಡಿಕೆದಾರರು. ಅವರ ಶ್ರಮದಿಂದ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಯಶಸ್ಸಿನ “ಸ್ಟಾರ್ಟ್ಅಪ್” ಇಂದು ಬೆಳಕನ್ನು ಕಂಡಿದೆ. ಇದು ಅವರ ಕನಸಿನ ಮುಂದುವರಿದ ಹಂತ. ಆತ್ಮವಿಶ್ವಸದಿಂದ ಜೀವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುನ್ನುಗ್ಗಿ. ಪದವಿ ಪಡೆಯುವದು ಅಂತಿಮವಲ್ಲ ಇದು ಪ್ರಾರಂಭ. ಆದರೆ ನಿರಂತರ ಅಭ್ಯಾಸದಿಂದ ಮಾತ್ರ ನೈಪುಣ್ಯ ಬರುತ್ತದೆ. ವೃತ್ತಿಪರರಾಗಿರಿ, ಆದರೆ ಜೀವನವನ್ನೂ ಆನಂದಿಸಿ. ನಿಮ್ಮ ಮಾನಸಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಗಮನ ಕೊಡಿ. ಕುಟುಂಬ, ಸ್ನೇಹಿತರು ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಸಂಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿ. ಕೇವಲ ವೃತ್ತಿಜೀವನವೇ ಸಾಕಾಗುವುದಿಲ್ಲ. ಕುತುಹಲವೇ ಜೀವನದ ಯಶಸ್ಸಿನ ಮೆಟ್ಟಿಲು. ಕೃತಕ ಬುದ್ದಿಮತ್ತೆ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಉತ್ತರ ನೀಡುತ್ತದೆ ಆದರೆ ಆ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ ನಿಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿದೆ. ಇಂದು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತಿದೆ. ನೀವು ಸಮಾಜ ಸೇವೆಯಲ್ಲಿರಬೇಕಾದರೆ ಹಾಲಿಗೆ ಸಕ್ಕರೆ ಸೇರಿಸಿದಂತೆ ಇದ್ದಾಗ ಮಾತ್ರ ನಿಮ್ಮಿಂದ ಸಮಾಜ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಸುಂದರವಾಗಲಿ. ಇದು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನದ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭ ಮಾತ್ರ ಎಂದು ಎಚ್ಚರಿಕೆ ನೀಡಿದರು.
ಅಮೇರಿಕಾದ ಥಾಮಸ್ ಜೆಪ್ಪರಸನ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಹಿರಿಯ ಯುರಾಲಾಜಿಸ್ಟ ಡಾ. ಲಿಯೋನಾರ್ಡ ಗೊಮೆಲ್ಲೊ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಡಾಕ್ಟರ ಆಫ್ ಸೈನ್ಸ್ ನೀಡಿ ಗೌರವಿಸಲಾಯಿತು.
ಗೌರವ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದ ಗೆಮೊಲ್ಲೊ ಅವರು, ಕಾಹೆರ ಮತ್ತು ಥಾಮಸ್ ಜೆಪ್ಪರಸನ್ ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯ ಸಂಯುಕ್ತಾಶ್ರಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕೇಂದ್ರಿತ ಸಹಕಾರವನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುವ ಮೂಲಕ ಜಾಗತಿಕ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋಣ ಹೊಂದಿದ ಹೊಸ ಪೀಳಿಗೆಯ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ನಾಯಕತ್ವವನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸುವ ಕಾರ್ಯ ಮಾಡಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಇದು ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸೇವಾ ವಿತರಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಬದಲಾವಣೆಗಳನ್ನು ತರಲು ನೆರವಾಗುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಭಾರತದಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕ ಅನುದಾನಿತ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಯೋಜನೆಗಳು ಯಶಸ್ವಿಯಾಗಿ ನಡೆಯುತ್ತಿದ್ದು, ಕಣ್ಣು ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಪರಿಹಾರ ಕಂಡುಹಿಡಿಯುವಲ್ಲಿ ಸಹಕಾರಿಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಸಹಕಾರವು ಸಂಶೋಧನೆ ಮತ್ತು ನವೀನತೆಯನ್ನು ಉತ್ತೇಜಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಪಾತ್ರವಹಿಸುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಸಾರ್ವಜನಿಕ ಆರೋಗ್ಯದ ತತ್ವಗಳು, ಸಾಮಾಜಿಕ ಚಟುವಟಿಕೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದ ಮೂಲಕ ಸಮಗ್ರ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಸಾಧಿಸುವ ಉದ್ದೇಶದಿಂದ, ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಪರಿವರ್ತನೆಯ ಮನೋಭಾವದೊಂದಿಗೆ ವಿವಿಧ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮಗಳನ್ನು ಆಯೋಜಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತಿದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರು.
ಕಾಹೆರನ ಉಪಕುಲಪತಿ ಡಾ. ಸಂದೀಪ ಶ್ರೀವಾತ್ಸವ ಅವರು ಪ್ರಾಸ್ತಾವಿಕವಾಗಿ ಮಾತನಾಡಿದರು. ಕೆಎಲ್ಇ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿ ಆಫ್ ಹೈಯರ ಎಜ್ಯುಕೇಶನ ಆಂಡ ರಿಸರ್ಚನ ಕುಲಪತಿ ಡಾ. ಪ್ರಭಾಕರ ಕೋರೆ ಅವರು ಘಟಿಕೋತ್ಸವದ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷತೆ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಕುಲಸಚಿವ ಡಾ. ವಿ.ಎಂ. ಪಟ್ಟಣಶೆಟ್ಟಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಪರೀಕ್ಷಾ ನಿಯಂತ್ರಕರಾದ ಡಾ. ಚಂದ್ರ ಎಸ್. ಮೆಟಗುಡ್ ಅವರು ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತರಿದ್ದರು.
ಈ ಘಟಿಕೋತ್ಸವದಲ್ಲಿ ಆರೋಗ್ಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಗಳ ವಿವಿಧ ವಿಭಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಟ್ಟು 1810 ಪದವಿಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರದಾನ ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು. 40 ಚಿನ್ನದ ಪದಕಗಳು, 44 ಪಿಹೆಚ್.ಡಿ., 28 ಪೋಸ್ಟ್-ಡಾಕ್ಟರಲ್, 691 ಸ್ನಾತಕೋತ್ತರ, 1013 ಸ್ನಾತಕ ಹಾಗೂ 34 ಸ್ನಾತಕೋತ್ತರ ಡಿಪ್ಲೊಮಾ, ಫೆಲೋಶಿಪ್ ಮತ್ತು ಪ್ರಮಾಣಪತ್ರ ಕೋರ್ಸ್ಗಳ ಪದವಿ ಪ್ರದಾನ ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು. 34 ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳು ಚಿನ್ನದ ಪದಕ ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದು, ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ 26 ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿನಿಯರು, 8 ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ 40 ಸುವರ್ಣ ಪದಕ ಪ್ರದಾನ ಮಾಡಲಾಯಿತು.
ಜವಾಹರಲಾಲ ನೆಹರು ವೈದ್ಯಕೀಯ ಮಹಾವಿದ್ಯಾಲಯದ ಡಾ. ಆದಿತ್ಯ ಪೊರವಾಲ ಅವರು ಎಂಬಿಬಿಎಸನಲ್ಲಿ 2, ಫಿಸಿಯೋಥೆರಪಿಯ ಡಾ. ಅನಸ್ತಾಸಿಯಾ ಎ. ಕಾರ್ವಾಲ್ಹೋ ಅವರು ಬಿಪಿಟಿಯಲ್ಲಿ 2 ಚಿನ್ನದ ಪದಕಗಳನ್ನು ಪಡೆದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಡಾ. ಅವಿನಾಶ್ ಕವಿ ಮತ್ತು ಡಾ. ನೇಹಾ ಧಡೆಡ್ ಅವರು ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ರಮ ನಿರೂಪಿಸಿದರು.
The 16th Convocation of the KLE Academy of Higher Education and Research (KAHER),
Deemed-to-be-University, Belagavi, Karnataka was held on Friday, the 5th June 2026 at KLE Centenary Convention Centre, JNMC Campus, Belagavi, Karnataka.
Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Principal Director, Symbiosis Society and Pro-Chancellor, Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune was the Chief Guest and delivered the Convocation Address. Dr. Lalitbhushan S. Waghmare, Vice-Chancellor, Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education and Research (DMIHER), Sawangi (Meghe), Wardha was the Guest of Honour. Dr. Prabhakar Kore, Hon’ble Chancellor, KAHER presided over the convocation ceremony.
The convocation ceremony and procession began at 10.30 AM when the Chief Guest Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar along with Guest of Honour viz. Dr. Lalitbhushan S. Waghmare, Hon. Chancellor Dr. Prabhakar Kore, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sandeep Shrivastava, Registrar Dr. V.M.Pattanshetti, Members of the Board of Management of the KLE Society, Members of the Executive Council of KAHER, Members of the Academic Council, Deans of Faculties, Principals, Officials of KAHER and other distinguished members, entered Dr. B.S.Jirge Auditorium with the Controller of Examinations Dr. Chandra S. Metgud carrying the ceremonial mace.
Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar delivered the Convocation Address and expressed her gratitude for being part of the 16th Convocation of KAHER. She stated that it was a proud moment for the graduating students, who had been nurtured in the rich academic culture and positive environment of KLE institutions, where students from diverse regions, states, and countries come together to learn and grow.
Congratulating the graduates on completing their degrees, she remarked that they were now entering a rapidly evolving world with new opportunities and challenges. She emphasized that healthcare extends far beyond medicine and requires a deep understanding of people, cultures, and society. She encouraged the students to continuously seek knowledge, remain grounded in values, and adapt to emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, while preserving the human touch in health-care.
Dr. Yeravdekar highlighted the importance of empathy, communication, and interpersonal skills, stating that these qualities are as important as professional competence. She urged the new graduates to listen carefully to their patients, spend quality time understanding their concerns, and practice medicine with compassion and integrity. She noted that while awards, gold medals, and accolades are commendable, what truly matters is becoming a good human being and serving society with dedication and ethical values.
She further encouraged the students to embrace diversity, uphold the values and ethical standards instilled by KLE, and take pride in carrying forward its legacy. Concluding her address, she expressed her desire to strengthen collaborative initiatives between the institutions and warmly invited the students to visit Pune Symbiosis campus in future.
Speaking on the occasion, Guest of Honour Dr. Lalitbhushan S. Waghmare congratulated the graduating students and expressed that their achievements were the result of years of dedication and hard work. He also acknowledged the invaluable contributions of parents, whose unwavering support, sacrifices, and investments had played a vital role in their academic success. He called upon the graduates to acknowledge the guidance extended by their teachers, mentors, and staff members who had supported them throughout their academic journey. He urged the graduates not only to excel as professionals but also to lead their lives as responsible and compassionate human beings. Emphasizing the importance of ethical values, sustainability, and social responsibility, he advised them to remain grounded and humane, irrespective of advancements in artificial intelligence and robotics. He concluded by wishing all the graduate’s success, excellence, and the very best in their future endeavours.
Dr. Sandeep Shrivastava, Vice-Chancellor, KAHER made presentation of the University Report for the academic year 2025–26, he highlighted the remarkable achievements and progress of the University. He noted that within a short span of 20 years, KAHER, Belagavi, has significantly strengthened its reputation through prestigious accreditations, recognitions, national and international rankings, research collaborations and the successful acquisition of various extra-mural research grants. He emphasized that under the visionary leadership of the Chancellor Dr. Prabhakar Kore, KAHER has implemented several transformative initiatives in the areas of research, academic excellence, innovation, start-ups, funded projects, incentives, healthcare services, patient-centric programs, community out-reach programs, etc. These efforts have enabled the University to achieve significant milestones and establish itself as a centre of excellence in higher education and health-care for which he applauded the faculty and students of KAHER for outstanding accomplishments in research projects, scientific publications, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. He informed that KAHER has consistently been placed in the Platinum Band with an Institutional Grade A++ in the Sustainable Institutions of India Green Rankings since 2022.
Concluding his address, he congratulated the graduating students and encouraged them to use their knowledge and skills for the betterment of society and meaningful contributions to their professions and communities.
The KAHER, Belagavi awarded Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) (Honoris Causa) to Dr. Leonard G. Gomella, MD, FACS, Professor and Chair Emeritus of Urology, Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Centre, Thomas Jefferson University (TJU), Philadelphia, USA, in recognition and appreciation of his significant and outstanding contributions to the field of urologic oncology, particularly his pioneering clinical care and fundamental scientific research in micro-metastasis and shed cancer cell research.
Responding to the honour, Dr. Leonard G. Gomella expressed his sincere gratitude for being conferred the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) (Honoris Causa). He highlighted the longstanding strategic collaboration between KAHER and Thomas Jefferson University (TJU), which has fostered world-class research across multiple disciplines. He noted that the partnership has expanded significantly over the years, with several joint research projects currently underway in the fields of urology, neurology, radiology, psychiatry, public health, physiotherapy, nursing, and integrative health.
Dr. Gomella informed that the collaboration has resulted in over 155 joint publications and more than 1,000 funded research initiatives. He further noted that the partnership has enhanced educational opportunities, faculty exchange programmes, and community-oriented activities involving faculty members, academicians, and students of both institutions. Expressing confidence in the future of this collaboration, he stated that the partnership would continue to grow stronger and reach greater heights in the years ahead.
Dr. Prabhakar Kore, Hon. Chancellor of the KAHER, Deemed University presided over the Convocation. Dr. Chandra S.Metgud, Controller of Examinations introduced the Chief Guest and the Guest of Honour. Dr. V.M.Pattanshetti, Registrar co-ordinated in presentation and conferment of Ph.D. Awards. The respective Deans of Faculties presented the candidates for conferment of Ph.D. / Degrees / Diplomas / Fellowships / Certificates.
In this Convocation, a total of 1810 Degrees were awarded in various disciplines of Health Sciences including 40 Gold Medals for their academic achievements in their respective courses / specialties, 44 Ph.Ds., 28 Post-doctoral (DM/M.Ch.), 691 Post-Graduates, 1013 Under-Graduates and 34 Post-Graduate Diplomas, Diplomas, Fellowships and Certificate Courses. 34 students including 26 girls and 8 boys were awarded 40 Gold Medals for their academic achievements in their respective courses / specialties.
Dr. Aditya Porwal from J..N.Medical College, Belagavi was awarded highest gold medals i.e. 2 Gold Medals at Under-Graduate level (MBBS). Dr. Anastasia A Carvalho from KLE Institute of Physiotherapy, Belagavi was awarded highest gold medals i.e. 2 Gold Medals at Under-Graduate level (BPT).
The Convocation began with the anthem of the KAHER, Belagavi, national anthem and concluded with the national anthem. Dr. Avinash Kavi and Dr. Neha Dhaded anchored the program.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of eminent personalities, parents, alumni, students from across the country and abroad, making the event a grand success.
