Belagavi, Vijayapur and Bagalkote districts are facing acute water scarcity owing to the drying up of Krishna river. A delegation under the leadership of Dr. Prabhakar Kore, MP would meet Maharashtra Chief Minister in this regard, said Mahantesh Kavatagimutt, Chief whip of BJP in Legislative council.
Kavatagimutt who met T. M. Vijayabhaskar, Chief Secretary of Karnataka on Saturday and explained him about the water scarcity in these districts. Chief Secretary informed Kavatagimutt that a proposal has been sent to the Maharashtra government to release the water into Krishna river for the drinking purpose. The Maharashtra CM has forwarded the file to the secretary of that government, said Vijayabhaskar.
In this backdrop the delegation led by Kore would meet Maharashtra CM and urge him to accept the proposal, Kavatagimutt said.
