The Election commission would view seriously if the candidates failed to provide the accounts within a prescribed time, warned dr. Vishal returning officer of Belagavi parliamentary constituency.
He was addressing the candidates and the agents of different candidates on Tuesday in the office. If a candidate failed to provide the accounts in a prescribed time then there is provision to file criminal cases against such candidates. If any candidate found canvasing on behalf of other candidate within his/her expenses then action will be taken RO warned.
If any candidate shares the dais with a star campaigner or any star campaigner asks vote for any particular candidate in such action the expenses will be added to the account of the candidate, Vishal said.
Pradeep Kumar Mujumdar, election observer for Accounts said that it is mandatory on part of the candidates to sign each page of the prescribed register and the pages without the signature of the candidates will not be considered. All expenses should be done through the bank accounts specifically opened for the election he said.
M P Anita Nodal officer for the district electio0n expenses said that each candidate can spend up to Rs. 70 lhs and amount above Rs. 10000 should be paid through the cheque, DD, NEFT or RTGS. Maximum limit to accept the donation in cash is Rs. 10000 and detailed report about such donation should be provided to the EC. Such donation amount n should be credited into the bank accounts before spending it, she said.
