*Karnataka Asian Games medal winners to be honoured: KOA President Dr K. Govindaraj*

Pragativahini News: Bengaluru: Karnataka athletes who have won medals at the 20th Asian Games being held in Japan will be honoured soon by the Karnataka Olympic Association (KOA), said Dr K. Govindaraj, President of the Federation of International Basketball Association (FIBA) Asia, KOA and Member of the Legislative Council.

Dr Govindaraj congratulated the Karnataka athletes for their achievements at the Asian Games. M.R. Poovamma has won two medals — gold in the women’s 4x400m relay and silver in the mixed 4x400m relay. Shreyanka Patil won a gold medal in cricket, Sneha S. won a bronze in the women’s 4x100m relay, Ayush Shetty won a bronze as part of the badminton team, and Tilottama Sen won a silver medal in rifle shooting.

A total of 23 athletes from Karnataka are representing India at the Asian Games. So far, the state’s athletes have won six medals, including two gold medals. Dr Govindaraj said the achievement is a matter of pride for both Karnataka and the country.

Congratulations to B.C. Ramesh, Mamatha and Kuttappa

Dr Govindaraj also congratulated B.C. Ramesh, who was an assistant coach of the Indian men’s team that won the gold medal, women’s team assistant coach Mamatha Poojari, and boxing coach Kuttappa. He said the coaches would also be honoured along with the medal-winning athletes at the felicitation programme to be organised by the KOA soon.
